Petra, the Rose-Red City, was the impressive capital of the Nabataean kingdom whose ruins remained hidden to most of the world until the Swiss explorer, JL Burckhardt, disguised as an Arab scholar, infiltrated the city in 1812. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site as well as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Meet your private guide at the site and hike or ride a horse down to the entrance of the Siq, a long, winding sandstone canyon that leads to the Treasury. The tour continues to the Street of Facades, the Roman Theater and the Royal Tombs. Note that travel time is 3 hours driving from Amman to Petra and another 3 hours.

An Incredible Day in Petra Followed by the Magical Petra by Night!
We had an absolutely unforgettable experience visiting Petra during the day and then returning for Petra by Night. It was a long and exciting day, but every moment was worth it, and having such a wonderful team with us made the experience even more special. From the very beginning, everything was organized smoothly and professionally. Our driver, Malek, was punctual, friendly, professional, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire day. The journey was comfortable, and we always felt safe and well taken care of. After a long day of exploring, it was wonderful to know that we had a reliable driver waiting for us and ready to make sure everything went smoothly. Our guide, Ahmad, was absolutely fantastic. He made our visit to Petra so much more meaningful by bringing the history and stories of this incredible ancient city to life. His knowledge was impressive, but what we appreciated most was the way he explained everything in an engaging and easy-to-understand way. Walking through the Siq with Ahmad and then seeing the Treasury for the first time was one of the most breathtaking moments of our entire trip. The scale, history, and beauty of Petra are difficult to describe until you see it yourself. Ahmad took the time to explain the important details while also giving us opportunities to simply stop, look around, take photos, and enjoy the atmosphere. He was also extremely patient and attentive. We never felt rushed, and he was happy to answer all of our questions. His passion for Petra was obvious, and it made us appreciate the site even more. You could tell that he genuinely wanted us to have the best possible experience rather than simply completing a tour. Petra itself was absolutely spectacular. Every turn seemed to reveal something new — the impressive rock formations, ancient tombs, temples, pathways, and of course the magnificent Treasury. It was incredible to think about the history of the people who built and lived in this extraordinary city thousands of years ago. After spending the day exploring Petra, we had the opportunity to experience Petra by Night, and this was the perfect way to finish the day. Seeing the Siq illuminated by hundreds of candles created an atmosphere that was completely different from our daytime visit. The combination of the darkness, candlelight, mountains, and the Treasury at night was truly magical. Experiencing Petra both during the day and at night gave us two completely different perspectives of this incredible place. During the day, we could appreciate the history, architecture, and incredible details, while Petra by Night created a peaceful, mysterious, and almost dreamlike atmosphere. We especially appreciated how smoothly everything was coordinated. Even though it was a full day, we never felt that we had to worry about the logistics. Malek took care of the transportation while Ahmad made sure we got the most out of our time in Petra. The combination of Ahmad's knowledge and enthusiasm with Malek's professionalism and kindness made a huge difference. They worked together perfectly and made us feel comfortable from beginning to end. This was one of the highlights of our trip to Jordan, and it is an experience we will remember for a very long time. Petra is already an incredible destination, but having an excellent guide like Ahmad and a dependable driver like Malek made the day even more enjoyable. A huge thank you to Ahmad and Malek for making our visit so special. Ahmad, thank you for sharing your knowledge and passion and for bringing Petra's incredible history to life. Malek, thank you for your professionalism, patience, safe driving, and for always making sure we were comfortable. We Didn't Expect One Day to Leave Such a Big Impression
We knew Petra was going to be impressive. What we didn't expect was how much we would enjoy the entire experience — from the early drive from Amman to the final moments of Petra by Night. Having Noor and Ahmad with us made this day even more memorable. Petra with Ahmad was an entirely different experience Our first impression of Petra was incredible, but having Ahmad as our guide added so much more depth to what we were seeing. His knowledge was excellent, but what we appreciated most was the way he shared it. He didn't overwhelm us with endless information. Instead, he focused on the stories, details, and interesting pieces of history that helped us understand what we were actually looking at. He was patient with our questions, gave us time to enjoy the surroundings, and never made the experience feel rushed. By the end of the visit, we weren't just taking photographs of Petra — we felt that we understood its story. Noor made the journey effortless A special thank you to Noor, who was an excellent driver throughout the day. He was punctual, professional, friendly, and incredibly accommodating. The journey from Amman was comfortable, and he made sure everything went smoothly around our Petra visit. What really stood out was his personality. Noor was easy to talk to, happy to help, and always attentive without being intrusive. After spending such a long day on the road, we genuinely appreciated having someone so relaxed and pleasant accompanying us. Petra by Night was the unexpected highlight Just when we thought the day was over, Petra gave us a completely different experience. Returning to the site after dark for Petra by Night felt almost surreal. The candlelit Siq created an atmosphere completely different from the daytime visit, and seeing the Treasury illuminated against the darkness was genuinely beautiful. Having already explored Petra during the day made the evening experience even more special. It was fascinating to see the same surroundings transformed completely by darkness and candlelight. It was quiet, atmospheric, and incredibly memorable. Two people who deserve the credit Looking back, the success of the day wasn't only because Petra is extraordinary. Ahmad made the history engaging. Noor made the journey comfortable. Together, they created the kind of experience where you can simply relax and enjoy the day without worrying about the details. We laughed, asked questions, learned a lot, and never felt rushed. That is exactly what you hope for from a private day trip. Our final thoughts This was definitely a full day, but it was worth every minute. If you're staying in Amman and have only one day available for Petra, adding Petra by Night makes the experience even more worthwhile. And if you get the chance to travel with Noor and Ahmad, consider yourself lucky. A huge thank you to Noor for his professionalism, patience, and wonderful company throughout the journey. And thank you to Ahmad for bringing Petra's history to life and making our visit much more meaningful than we expected. We left Amman in the morning as tourists and returned at night with one of those travel memories we'll be talking about for years. once in a life time visit
the driver was on time, professional and everything. however, the tour doesn't include the entrance ticket , nor return. So you have to pay for return transportation fee and entrance ticket and guide tour (if needed). In the end, the total fee to visit Petra was not cheap (tour, entrance, return transportation). it is not a tour I would do several times due to high cost and distance from Amman.
