Petra
Petra, the Rose-Red City, was the impressive capital of the Nabataean kingdom whose ruins remained hidden to most of the world until the Swiss explorer, JL Burckhardt, disguised as an Arab scholar, infiltrated the city in 1812. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site as well as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Meet your private guide at the site and hike or ride a horse down to the entrance of the Siq, a long, winding sandstone canyon that leads to the Treasury. The tour continues to the Street of Facades, the Roman Theater and the Royal Tombs.

A trip will remember all our life
Some trips you enjoy, some trips you remember — and then there are days that stay with you long after you return home. Our day visiting Shobak Castle and Petra was definitely one of those days. We had a wonderful experience from beginning to end, and a big reason for that was the people who made the day so easy and enjoyable: our driver Naeem and our Petra guide Khalid. The day started with Naeem, who was exactly the kind of driver you hope for when exploring Jordan. He was punctual, professional, calm, and very respectful. The drive itself became part of the experience rather than simply transportation. Jordan has some incredible landscapes, and Naeem gave us the opportunity to sit back, relax, and enjoy the changing scenery along the way. Our first stop was Shobak Castle, and it was a fantastic way to begin the day. Standing in front of such an old fortress and imagining the history that took place there gives you a completely different feeling than simply reading about it in a book. The castle has a rugged, almost mysterious character, and exploring it made us appreciate just how much history is hidden throughout Jordan. Naeem was helpful throughout the visit and made sure everything was running smoothly without ever making us feel rushed. His driving was safe and comfortable, which was especially appreciated because we had a full day ahead of us. Then came the main event: Petra. No photograph or video can really prepare you for Petra. You can see thousands of pictures before coming, but walking through the Siq and seeing the Treasury appear in front of you is something completely different. It is one of those moments where everyone naturally becomes quiet for a second just to take it in. Having Khalid as our guide made the Petra experience even better. He wasn't simply walking with us and pointing out buildings — he brought the place to life. His knowledge of the history, stories, architecture, and details of Petra gave us a much deeper appreciation of what we were seeing. What we especially liked about Khalid was the way he explained things. He was knowledgeable without making the experience feel like a boring history lesson. He knew when to stop and explain an important detail, when to let us explore and take photographs, and how to keep the experience interesting throughout the visit. Petra is a huge place, and without a good guide it is easy to walk around looking at impressive rocks and buildings without understanding what you are actually seeing. Khalid changed that completely. He helped us understand the civilization behind Petra and the incredible work that went into creating this city. Between Shobak Castle and Petra, the day gave us a great combination of history, scenery, culture, and adventure. It was a full day, but it never felt like we were simply rushing from one attraction to another. And honestly, Naeem and Khalid made a great team. Naeem took care of the road, timing, comfort, and transportation, while Khalid took care of the history and experience inside Petra. Both were professional, friendly, and genuinely interested in making sure we had a great day. One thing we appreciated was that neither of them made the day feel overly commercial or forced. We were able to enjoy the experience naturally, ask questions, take our time with photographs, and simply absorb the places around us. By the end of the day, we were tired — but it was the good kind of tired. The kind you feel after a day that was actually worth every kilometer. If you're visiting Jordan and trying to decide whether to combine Shobak Castle and Petra in one day, I would absolutely recommend it. And if you can have Naeem driving and Khalid guiding you through Petra, even better. A big thank you to Naeem for the safe, comfortable, and professional driving, and to Khalid for turning Petra from an impressive ancient site into a story that we could actually understand and appreciate. This wasn't just another sightseeing day. It was a day filled with history, incredible landscapes, great conversations, and memories that we'll take home with us. Shobak Castle + Petra: unforgettable. Naeem: excellent driver. Khalid: excellent guide. Overall experience: 10/10. If you're looking for a day in Jordan that combines adventure and history without the stress of organizing everything yourself, this is a day I would happily recommend.
