Great Palenque private tour!
Duran Duran was a very knowledgeable, patient, and fun tour guide for our private couple's tour to Palenque. From the time he picked us up at our hotel, he was educating us on Cartagena and the surroundings areas, all the way to Palenque. This was really helpful! Once we arrived at Palenque, we were handed over to a local tour guide. This is done out of respect for the local community, which we very much appreciated. Although this was the case, Duran Duran walked alongside us throughout the entire tour and chimed in with necessary information and English translations whenever necessary. All-in-all, we were in good hands with Duran Duran and highly recommend him for any tour that he offers. Not: we only did a half day tour, so local food was not included. We did receive some great coffee along the way!
Response from the operator: Good afternoon. What a great Review on Viator/Tripadvisor about your beautiful experience in Palenque tour. I Also did have fun and Palenque's people are greatfull To you. It was our pleasure. Sincerely Durán Angel Eduardo

Palenque tour
It was an amazing day. The pick up is at the hotel. On the way you already get plenty of information about Cartagena. We had the best day at Palenque. The local guide was very wel picked and gave us all the information and are guide from duranduran would fill in or expand. the lunch was so njammie. We would recommend this tour and the organisation to everyone.
Response from the operator: Good morning. This is me, your tour guide. It was a pleasure To share time and experiences with you two, who by the way are very interested, clever, beautiful and nice people. Thanks for travelling from so far To visit Colombia and mainly Cartagena De indias.

Phenomenal Once in a Lifetime Experience
This was by far one of the most meaningful and well executed travel experiences I've ever had. Angel was our hilarious and super intelligent guide. He is truly a cultural and literary scholar who has developed such an incredible relationship with the people of Palenque. He has the utmost respect for the history and culture, and his excitement about sharing all of his knowledge was palpable. He and our palenquero host filled us in on the past, present, and future of this unique village, a tiny slice of Africa in the mountains of South America. They lead us through town, covering as much culture, history, and traditions as possible. The hours flew by like minutes. It was such a privilege for people there to share their way of life with us, answer my endless slew of questions. Everyone should get to know this place. Dance there, sing there, eat there, learn there, share there. Duran Duran facilitated the best possible experience for doing so.
Response from the operator: This is the first review about this beautiful village name Palenque De Sa Basilio or San Basilio de Palenque. I have been visiting this beautiful corner of Africa in Colombia for over 20 years and every time I go there I always find something new. It is like a magical place where people are very proud of been the first free village from the Spanish crown. Beliefs, customs, gastronomy and much more, makes this a place worth to visit. Thanks a lot for writing about this tour. Sincerely Durán Angel Eduardo

Why this scores 54
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Palenque Village Tour and local lunch and drinks.: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cartagena.
How much does Palenque Village Tour and local lunch and drinks. cost?
+
Prices start at $150 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cartagena usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Palenque Village Tour and local lunch and drinks. take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cartagena is not rushed.
Is Palenque Village Tour and local lunch and drinks. worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cartagena, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Palenque Village Tour and local lunch and drinks.?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Palenque Village Tour and local lunch and drinks. suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Palenque Village Tour and local lunch and drinks.?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cartagena can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cartagena and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Palenque Village Tour and local lunch and drinks. start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cartagena within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cartagena?
+
On Outty we rank every Cartagena experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cartagena Antigua & Barrio Getsemani group with audio system, Historic Center & Getsemaní Shared Tour in Cartagena, Cartagena VIP Boat Tour: Rosario Islands & Snorkel. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cartagena?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cartagena?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
