    Know before you go

    • Wheelchair accessible
    • Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller
    • Service animals allowed
    • Public transportation options are available nearby
    • Transportation options are wheelchair accessible
    • All areas and surfaces are wheelchair accessible
    • Suitable for all physical fitness levels
    • Important: Minimum age is 18 years and, if you look like you are aged under 30, you must carry valid photo ID to prove you are aged over 18. This must be a photo driving license, a passport, a proof of age drinking UK ID card, or a military ID card. The date of birth must be visible in English. Without this proof of age, pubs can oblige you to leave their premises
    • Please note: although we have public liability insurance, any damage to property or accidents to persons, as result of your being intoxicated, are not covered by any PLI. This tour encourages sensible drinking. It is not just a pub crawl; while it visits an average of three pubs in three hours or more, it also introduces Oxford city and university sightseeing spots
    • Entrance to colleges is NOT generally included on this tour, as the colleges close at 5pm. However, you will see many of the historic colleges and city sights during the tour
    • PLEASE ARRIVE ON TIME:
    • INFO FOR DRIVERS AND PARKING:
    • If you are driving, then please allow extra 30-60 minutes over whatever time you think it will take you to get here. Oxford is NOT car friendly and it is congested roads and hard to find parking spaces....unless you park at the sign posted 'park and rides' on edge of town on any major road into the city and hop on their buses into city centre. The park and ride buses leave every 15 or every 30 minutes and take anything from 10 min to 30 min (depending on traffic) to reach city centre. So if you are going to drive, then please assume you should be aiming to park your car about one hour before your tour starts.
    • PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
    • We actually recommend instead using the much faster and reliable train services but again please aim to arrive about an hour or earlier before your tour starts as trains can be delayed and the train and coach station are about 15 minutes walk from our meeting point. There is also the coach service from London called the Oxford Tube which leaves every half hour or more but it can take much longer than its advertised 105 minute journey time. It drops you off either at High street Oxford or Gloucester Green coach station. It's quicker to ask to get off on High street near Carfax tower, then it's a 10 minutes walk to Broad street.

    Fascinating experience and great pubs!

It was such an enjoyable evening! This tour is an excellent way to get to know Oxford, learn about the city and the university, and experience some of its iconic pubs, all while listening to the fascinating stories the guide, Matias, shares along the way. We explored literary Oxford, visited pubs connected to student life, discovered hidden gems and medieval taverns, and finished at a historic pub once associated with trade and money. An experience I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who enjoys real ales, great storytelling, and cities with medieval roots.

Response from the operator: Thanks for recommending your Oxford tour experience with us and please note that we also can offer private group tours in Spanish too.

IK HEB HEM IETS AANGEPAST OM BETER TE PASSEN BIJ HET FEIT DAT HET EEN CAFETOCHT MOET ZIJN: Oxford tour with TomTripadvisor review: Visit Oxford ToursWe had the most wonderful tour of Oxford with Tom and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better guide! Tom was incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about Oxford and the shows. He knew so many interesting facts, not only about Inspector Morse and Inspector Lewis, but about Oxford itself, which made the tour so much more enjoyable. He even threw in some Harry Potter facts because he remembered that I love Harry Potter, which was such a lovely personal touch! Unfortunately, the weather took a turn and it started absolutely chucking it down with rain. Tom kindly gave me his umbrella and ended up getting soaked himself without complaining once. He also took some really lovely photos of me and my dad, making sure we had some special memories to take home with us. Eventually, the rain became so heavy that we had to cut the tour short, but Tom was so lovely and understanding throughout. His kindness, knowledge and enthusiasm really made the experience special despite the weather. I would 100% recommend Tom to anyone looking to do an Oxford tour. He was fantastic, and when I come back to Oxford, I’ll definitely be booking another tour with him! Thank you so much, Tom! ❤️

    Spear-shaking, ground-breaking

Alasdair's countenance shakes speares. We wended our way around Oxford, dodging the ghosts of August Past. When we got to the Turf, we ruminated. We had a choice between the Plough, the Crown and the middle of Orion's belt. We chose the Bear.

Response from the operator: Hi Jake, It was my pleasure to make your acquaintance and to find a kindred spirit with shared interest in Shakespeare heritage too. Thanks for choosing us.

Oxford PRIVATE Pub and City Evening Walking Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Oxford.

How much does Oxford PRIVATE Pub and City Evening Walking Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $155 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Oxford usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Oxford PRIVATE Pub and City Evening Walking Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Oxford is not rushed.

Is Oxford PRIVATE Pub and City Evening Walking Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Oxford, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Oxford PRIVATE Pub and City Evening Walking Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Oxford PRIVATE Pub and City Evening Walking Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Oxford PRIVATE Pub and City Evening Walking Tour?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Oxford can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Oxford and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Oxford PRIVATE Pub and City Evening Walking Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Oxford within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Oxford?

    +

On Outty we rank every Oxford experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cotswolds in a Day Tour from Moreton-in-Marsh / Stratford-on-Avon, Oxford University Walking Tour With University Alumni Guide, Oxford Official University & City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Oxford?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Oxford?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
