About this experience
Experience the best of the northern Cotswolds with a fun, friendly local guide in a small group of up to 16 people. We'll explore picture-postcard Cotswold towns and villages including Chipping Campden, Stow-on-the-Wold, Bibury and Bourton-on-the-Water. There's also the stunning Dover's Hill viewpoint, scenic back roads, and our "secret" off-the-beaten-track village, which many customers agree is a highlight of the tour! Tours depart from Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon, or from Moreton-in-Marsh in the Cotswolds, so make an ideal day trip for visitors staying in these towns. It's also very easy to take a day trip by train from London Paddington, Oxford or Worcester (to Moreton-in-Marsh), or from Birmingham (to Stratford-upon-Avon). If you're travelling from London or Oxford, we think it's best to take the train to the Cotswolds and meet a tour here - you'll skip all the traffic, take a charming, scenic train ride, and get to spend even longer in the beautiful Cotswolds!

What you'll see and do
Cotswolds
On this tour you'll explore the Cotswolds
Moreton-in-Marsh
Passengers joining the tour at Stratford-upon-Avon will be collected from Shakespeare's Birthplace Coach Terminal at 08.50. Then, we travel to the Cotswold town of Moreton-in-Marsh, where we collect our final guests from Moreton-in-Marsh rail station at 9.30am. From Moreton-in-Marsh, it's a 15 minute drive to our first official stop. We'll provide an introduction to the tour en route.
10 minutes here
Dover's Hill
It's just a short drive to our first stop, the viewpoint at Dover's Hill and long the way your driver-guide will begin their entertaining commentary telling you the story of the Cotswolds. At the viewpoint you'll enjoy stunning views and learn about some of the Cotswolds' more quirky traditions! *In poor weather, we may omit the stop at Dover's Hill. It's beautiful in lovely weather, but can get very muddy when it's wet!
20 minutes here
High Street Chipping Campden
Chipping Campden is a charming and typically Cotswolds market town, full of history and heritage but also home to great independent shopping and superb coffee and cake! Using the maps we provide, you'll have around an hour here to explore and discover Chipping Campden for yourself.
60 minutes here
Snowshill Village
Using the narrow backlanes, we visit our "secret" Cotswolds village for around 20 minutes. This is an off-the-beaten-track location that many of our customers agree is the most beautiful village on the tour!
20 minutes here
Stow-on-the-Wold Market Square
The highest town in the Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold is a bustling, historic market town with plenty of good shopping, and a variety of excellent places to eat lunch (lunch not included). We stop here for around 1 hour and 15 minutes, and with the maps we provide, you can explore Stow's highlights at your leisure.
75 minutes here
Arlington Row
Using the narrow back lanes it's approximately a 30-40 minute drive from Stow-on-the-Wold to Bibury. Bibury is a small but perfectly formed Cotswolds village, once described by William Morris as "the prettiest in England". Join us on a tour to see if you agree!
40 minutes here
Bourton-on-the-Water
After Bibury, it's a stunning 30 minute drive to Bourton-on-the-Water, our last stop before returning our customers back to where they started. Described as the "Venice of the Cotswolds", Bourton-on-the-Water is a picture-postcard village with Cotswolds stone bridges crossing the River Windrush that runs right through the centre of the village. It's very popular with visitors, especially on a warm day when paddling in the river is the past-time of choice, but a tour of the Cotswolds wouldn't be complete without a stop here.
50 minutes here

Great tour guide but a little rushed
First of all, our train was delayed and the tour started without us. But Steve drove back and picked us up allowing us to get back with the tour. Amazing customer service Second, our guide Steve was awesome. A great driver, funny and knowledgeable. Being a local he got us around traffic and really knew his stuff. That said, there was a lot packed into the day. Too little time to really enjoy the towns. We felt rushed at every stop. But saw interesting things and enjoyed the day.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your detailed review! We’re delighted Steve was able to come back and collect you after your unplanned train delay, and we’re glad we were able to help you to join the tour. We always do our best to help when travel plans go awry. It’s wonderful to hear you enjoyed Steve’s local knowledge, humour and driving skills. We do appreciate your feedback about the pace, although the train delay unfortunately meant you had just 15 minutes at the first stop rather than the planned hour, which understandably may have added to the feeling of being rushed. The delay was outside of our control, but we were pleased we could get you back on the tour and help you to make the most of the day. Thank you again for joining us and for your recommendation. We hope to welcome you back to the Cotswolds for another, more leisurely visit!

Grand Day Out
A grand Day out despite the rain. Peter our guide was excellent and very knowledgeable and very obliging. So many nationalities on mini bus as we were only two English on board which was lovely. It gives a good taster of where you would want to go back to after visiting the villages. In all a great 8 hour day out.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that you had such a grand day out exploring the Cotswolds, even with the British weather! It’s fantastic to hear that Peter was such an excellent and knowledgeable guide. We love giving our guests the freedom to explore the charming Cotswold villages at their own pace, while also sharing the local history, stories, and hidden gems that make the region so special. We’re also thrilled that you enjoyed meeting fellow travellers from around the world — it’s one of the things that makes our Cotswolds tours such a memorable experience. And we couldn’t agree more: sometimes a tour is the perfect way to discover those places you’ll want to return to and explore more deeply. Thank you for choosing Go Cotswolds, and we hope to welcome you back on a sunnier Cotswolds adventure in the future!

Cotswolds in a Day Tour from Moreton-in-Marsh / Stratford-on-Avon: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Oxford.
How much does Cotswolds in a Day Tour from Moreton-in-Marsh / Stratford-on-Avon cost?
+
Prices start at $117 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Oxford usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Cotswolds in a Day Tour from Moreton-in-Marsh / Stratford-on-Avon take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Oxford is not rushed.
Is Cotswolds in a Day Tour from Moreton-in-Marsh / Stratford-on-Avon worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 94 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 1,362 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Oxford, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.
Can I cancel or reschedule Cotswolds in a Day Tour from Moreton-in-Marsh / Stratford-on-Avon?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Cotswolds in a Day Tour from Moreton-in-Marsh / Stratford-on-Avon suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Cotswolds in a Day Tour from Moreton-in-Marsh / Stratford-on-Avon?
+
Around 477 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Oxford can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Oxford and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Cotswolds in a Day Tour from Moreton-in-Marsh / Stratford-on-Avon start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Oxford within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Oxford?
+
On Outty we rank every Oxford experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Oxford University Walking Tour With University Alumni Guide, Oxford Official University & City Tour, Cotswolds Villages Full-Day Small-Group Tour from Oxford. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Oxford?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Oxford?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
