    Magnificent Mountain

Roger was an excellent guide. He was easy to understand and full of interesting information. He lead us up the mountain well, choosing the paths that best matched our abilities. I especially appreciated that Roger assisted me over some of the more difficult areas. He also was very willing to take photos of us. We would highly recommend Roger as your guide!

Response from the operator: Thank you for your review! We're so glad Roger tailored the mountain paths to your group's abilities and offered a helping hand when needed. His attention to individual needs is what sets him apart. Combined with his interesting commentary and photo skills, it sounds like a perfect day. We truly appreciate your recommendation!

    The Mountain is a Must!

I really loved Mount Houshan! I had an awesome guide with Celine and a really good experience on the mountain! If you are thinking about the mountain, I would really consider the weather and your itinerary because it is definitely a day commitment. I also think, when I went, the weather was just perfect--cloudy and about 16-20 Celsius. I would reconsider if it is pouring rain or very hot. If you are afraid of heights, I would also consider that you will be high up almost the entire time, including suspended in the rail cable car. That being said, this tour group is the best if the weather is good! I loved it. I thought the views were absolutely breathtaking. I love mountains and it was a major reason I came to China, so this tour was perfect. My guide Celine helped me with anything I ever asked and helped explain the history of the mountain and the various routes. She was very organized and experienced and had a very good plan of where to go first. I was a bit apprehensive about being physically able to climb, but there are both children and elders that climb the mountain and a cable car past the main route. She was so encouraging and kind to me. She helped get through every security check and get my cable car tickets with ease. She also helped me as a solo traveler take really good pictures, which was great so it wasn't always selfie mode the whole time! I also wanted to do the famous plank walk/cliff climb, and she helped me to do that. I really enjoyed that part too and the pictures I got were stunning. If you want to do that, I would make sure they know beforehand because it does sell out. It is best to go as early as possible for the tour if you want to do that. I did the one on the east end, which was a cliff climb with a harness and two carrybeaner clip-ins. You are definitely on the side of Mount Houshan, and it is for adventure-makers! It's only 30 yuan too, so it's really cheap and the cable ride up there is the main expense. There are also snack stands and plenty of gift shops. I would bring several of your own snacks to maintain energy, like granola bars, fresh fruit, or peanut butter crackers, (electrolyte packet drink mixes are also a good idea) for the journey, and get a larger "victory snack" at the end. I got a Chinese hamburger which was super good. The beef recharged me so well! I personally haven't seen too many magnets or postcards of the mountain in Xi'an, so if you want to get something to commemorate your climb, I would get it there. It was all very reasonable, and Celine helped make sure I got anything I wanted. I really liked seeing the Terracotta Warriors, but I am also very glad I went to the mountain. It was breathtaking, peaceful, exciting, and a great way to see beautiful Chinese landscape. Xi'an (and it's neighboring areas) have been such a blessing and pleasant surprise for me because I have heard of the army, but not the mountain, the Tang Dynasty show, or the Big Goose Pagoda in the USA. I loved the tour and I am really glad I didn't just do the army and call it a day. I would have missed so much. I am very grateful to Celine for making my journey so excellent. She is amazing and made the journey such a blessing to me. Most of these pictures Celine took, so feel free to enjoy them! She is great!

Response from the operator: Thanks for sharing this amazing and detailed review of your Mount Huashan adventure! Celine will be overjoyed that she made your journey so excellent and that you felt so supported. Your tips about weather, snacks, the plank walk, and souvenirs are so helpful. We are so glad you went beyond the Terracotta Warriors and discovered the beauty of the mountain. Thank you for your beautiful words.

Stunning views and zero stress — Roger is exceptional

Mt Huashan could easily be a logistical nightmare — the ticketing, the cable car, the crowds — but with Roger organising everything in advance, it was completely effortless. He took all the complexity out of what can be a complicated day and let us just focus on enjoying one of the most spectacular landscapes I've ever seen. The views from the top are simply breathtaking. Taking the cable car up, you're immediately rewarded with dramatic mountain scenery that genuinely takes your breath away, and Roger knew exactly where to go to make the most of it. His calm, organised approach made the whole day feel relaxed and unhurried — a real achievement at a site this popular. If you're planning a trip to Mt Hua, book Roger. You'll be in the best possible hands.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this incredible review! Roger will be absolutely thrilled to hear that he turned what could have been a logistical nightmare at Mt. Huashan into a completely effortless and relaxed day. From ticketing to cable cars to navigating crowds, we're so glad he took all the complexity out of it so you could focus on those breathtaking views. Your recommendation means the world — thank you!

One Day Xi’an Private Tour to Mt. Huashan: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Xian.

How much does One Day Xi’an Private Tour to Mt. Huashan cost?

    +

Prices start at $226 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Xian usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does One Day Xi’an Private Tour to Mt. Huashan take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Xian is not rushed.

Is One Day Xi’an Private Tour to Mt. Huashan worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 25 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Xian, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule One Day Xi’an Private Tour to Mt. Huashan?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is One Day Xi’an Private Tour to Mt. Huashan suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book One Day Xi’an Private Tour to Mt. Huashan?

    +

Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Xian can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Xian and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does One Day Xi’an Private Tour to Mt. Huashan start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Xian within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Xian?

    +

On Outty we rank every Xian experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Xi'an Day Tour: Terracotta Army&Optional City Attractions, All-Inclusive Terracotta Army Tour with Premium Buffet Lunch, 2-Day Customized Warriors Tours & Xian Top Attractions. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Xian?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Xian?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
