Loved the driving app!
A friend had recommended using one of the driving apps. We chose Shaka. We enjoyed listening to it while we drove but it also pointed out each turn off. We would have missed some of the sites had we not been using it. I will use a driving app from now on whenever we go to a new location.

WOW! This was the best...
WOW! This was the best thing to buy before our trip! Download it so you can still have the app guide you even when you lose service. You drive around and it keeps tabs on your location and tells you where to stop and the history of the island! We loved it. You only buy it once and have it forever. Strongly recommended!
Response from the operator: Aloha! Mahalo for the amazing review! We’re thrilled our offline GPS guidance and lifetime access kept you on track and brought the island’s history to life. Thanks for recommending Shaka Guide—here’s to many more seamless adventures on the road!

Shaka Guide great for whole family
Fantastic tour to see the island. Our family of 5 (Mom, Dad and kids 13, 10, and 5) really enjoyed having this tour guide. The kids especially loved the folklore stories, Mom and Dad appreciated the interactive GPS/map and directions along with doing the work of deciding what spots on the island are worth visiting. We will absolutely use Shaka guide again for future vacations to new locations!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the amazing review! We’re so happy to hear that your whole family enjoyed the tour! It’s wonderful to know that the folklore stories kept the kids engaged and that the interactive GPS/map helped Mom and Dad plan the adventure. We’re thrilled that you’ll be using Shaka Guide for future vacations—it means a lot to us! We can’t wait to help you explore more amazing places on your next adventure. Safe travels and thanks again for sharing your experience!

Great Audio Tour Experience on the North Shore
We love Shaka Guide! This was our second tour on Kauai with this app. The tours are entertaining and informative. You see places that are off the beaten path. We were in & out of rain the day we did the North Shore tour, but the views were beautiful. I wouldn't pass on the lighthouse, as we felt it was a must see. Just make sure to book your pass BEFORE you go, same with the state park. We had such luck with the Kauai tours, we are going to be using the app for some tours of national parks this summer too.
Response from the operator: We're glad to hear that you find our app useful and easy to use. Our team is constantly working to improve the app, and we appreciate your support.

Inconsistent and wasted time.
Inconsistent. Trouble getting started on one tour. Had to re-download one of the tours, entire process to determine what was wrong and reset took 30 min. The Kapaa tour failed. Tried downloading again and it failed. Again, wasted time, this time an hour. In my humble opinion, better software development would fix the issues we experienced. Advise against spending your time with these.
Response from the operator: Mahalo for providing your valuable feedback. We're sorry to hear you seem to have not enjoyed your Shaka Guide tour. Please reach out to us at aloha@shakaguide.com to provide us a more detailed briefing of your experience and email us a copy of your receipt so we can help you get a refund on your purchase

Why this scores 67
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
North Shore Kauai Self-Guided Audio Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kauai.
How much does North Shore Kauai Self-Guided Audio Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $20 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kauai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does North Shore Kauai Self-Guided Audio Tour take?
+
Plan for about 48 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kauai is not rushed.
Is North Shore Kauai Self-Guided Audio Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kauai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule North Shore Kauai Self-Guided Audio Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is North Shore Kauai Self-Guided Audio Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 48-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book North Shore Kauai Self-Guided Audio Tour?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kauai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kauai and add a light layer if any part of the 48-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does North Shore Kauai Self-Guided Audio Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kauai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kauai?
+
Kauai sells Na Pali Coast boat and helicopter tours, Waimea Canyon drives, tubing through old plantation ditches and Hanalei kayak trips. Ocean conditions shut down the north shore boat runs in winter, so cancellation terms matter. On Outty we rank every Kauai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Koloa Zipline in Kauai, Kauai: NaPali Boat Tour on the Amelia K, Kauai: Secret Falls Kayak and Hike. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kauai?
+
April to June and September to October, with calmest seas in summer. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kauai?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
