Highly recommend Fathom Five
Did 4 dives with Five Fathom in June and had a stellar experience. My refresher shore dives with Jeannette at Koloa Landing were great. She's very experienced, knowledgable and put my mind at ease on shore and in the water. Felt incredibly safe diving with her and excited to explore the underwater wonderland of Kauai. My two boat dives with Julie were enjoyable as well. The water was a bit choppy on the surface after a couple days of wind and rain and she did a great job of explaining what to expect, keeping the group together underwater and ensuring everyone was safe, enjoying themselves and seeing lots of cool things. Her enthusiasm is contagious and she has an amazing eye for spotting sea life - from a massive octopus, to turtles, harlequin shrimp, moray eels, domino damselfish and more. Thank you for an amazing and unforgettable experience Jeannette & Julie!
Response from the operator: Awesome review! Thank you for choosing Fathom Five.

Perfect shore dive with amazing sea life
Had the best shore dive experience ever. Shawn was a great dive master and found sea life I never would have found myself. Couldn’t recommend more highly.
Response from the operator: Awesome review! Thank you for sharing your experience with Shaun and Fathom Five

Great staff, but disappointing experience overall
We did 10 dives with them and were disappointed for a few reasons: - Value: This was the most expensive boat dives we've ever done and was a very bare bones experience. If you're going to charge liveaboard like prices, you should deliver service to compete. - Dive change insurance? On top of the high prices, they want even more money for insurance against changes which was ridiculous. On the flip side, there was no discount when they rescheduled on us twice. - Light tanks: My average starting pressure was 2850 for our 10 dives - Dive profile: You basically just do circles around the mooring lines. Because they actively hunt these waters fish and octopus also tend to be very wary of people which means that you're basically looking at the geology (which is cool) and hunting in holes for small stuff. - Nitrox: No analyzers on the boats which is always a frustration - Not letting us set foot on the boat to double check gear setup they are ready to leave. When I didn't double check their setup I found weights in the wrong places, twisted straps and misplaced hoses which was irritating. - Not letting us take our gear off the boats and insisting that they hand them over to us. No big deal if it happened right away, but generally it took a while which led to us to shivering on the dock for 5 minutes while they hosed down gear and worked their checklist before they got to it. - Over communication: I stopped counting at 50 emails and also got several texts which was definitely overkill. On the positive side, the staff is great and we really enjoyed diving with Julie, Devin and Drake. They have a ton of experience and are fun to spend a day with. Overall it was a mixed experience. I'd say 4 or 5 star staff, but a 2 star operation which is where I averaged it out to 3. The smaller dive groups are great and we saw some interesting stuff, but the overall experience wasn't that great. I'd put them more in the "proceed with caution" bucket and would likely try another operation if I came back to Kauai.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. Don’t know why your tanks were at 2800. This is not normal. I also don’t know why you felt you circled the mooring. There should’ve been an analyzer on the boat. I will be speaking with the crew about these issues. The emails are automatically generated so with you doing 10 dives I can understand why you received so many. This is the first I’ve heard of these issues. I appreciate you sharing your experience so we can hold our crew accountable.

Welcoming refresher years after last dive
We are divers with < 10 dives experience and this group was nothing but patient and encouraging for our first dives in Hawaii. We didn’t feel rushed and were encouraged to go at our own pace. Both our instructors Alyssa and Jeremiah were super knowledgeable about Koloa landing and helped us navigate the swells and strong current that day. The site is beautiful and showcased numerous diverse marine life including colorful reef fish, turtles, and eels.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We love hearing back from our divers.

Great Scuba Experience
My husband and I (67 and 65 years old) booked a shore dive with Fathom Five Divers. Reed was our Dive Master and he was incredibly caring, knowledgeable and capable. He was so patient with this old geriatric lady with limited hip and shoulder mobility. And WOW, did he know the area! We saw so many turtles, eels, octopi, and the fish! Even a Flying Gurnard! We had a fabulous time and it was certainly one of the highlights of our trip!
Response from the operator: Great review! We love hearing back from our divers. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience .

Why this scores 65
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
One Tank Scuba Diving in Kauai South Shore Certified Diver Only: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kauai.
How much does One Tank Scuba Diving in Kauai South Shore Certified Diver Only cost?
+
Prices start at $137 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kauai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does One Tank Scuba Diving in Kauai South Shore Certified Diver Only take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kauai is not rushed.
Is One Tank Scuba Diving in Kauai South Shore Certified Diver Only worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 19 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kauai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule One Tank Scuba Diving in Kauai South Shore Certified Diver Only?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is One Tank Scuba Diving in Kauai South Shore Certified Diver Only suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book One Tank Scuba Diving in Kauai South Shore Certified Diver Only?
+
Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kauai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kauai and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does One Tank Scuba Diving in Kauai South Shore Certified Diver Only start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kauai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kauai?
+
Kauai sells Na Pali Coast boat and helicopter tours, Waimea Canyon drives, tubing through old plantation ditches and Hanalei kayak trips. Ocean conditions shut down the north shore boat runs in winter, so cancellation terms matter. On Outty we rank every Kauai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Koloa Zipline in Kauai, Kauai: NaPali Boat Tour on the Amelia K, Kauai: Secret Falls Kayak and Hike. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kauai?
+
April to June and September to October, with calmest seas in summer. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kauai?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
