    What you'll see and do

    1. Nizwa Souq

The site of one of the oldest souqs in the country, this extensive marketplace is dedicated mostly to fruit and vegetables, meat and fish, all of which are housed in separate blocks behind the great, crenellated piece of city wall that overlooks the wadi. Part of the souq (nearest the fort) is dedicated to handicrafts and caters specifically to the passing tourist trade.

    2. Nizwa Fort Oman

Nizwa Fort — the most attended monument of Oman. The fort was built almost 370 years ago and it’s based on the stream of water underneath. Surely, it’s one of the best castles of that period worth seeing. Then we’ll make a visit to Nizwa Souq. At the market you can buy traditional knives, pots and other unique items.

    3. Jebel Akhdar

Wadi Bani Habib is a wonderful place to explore, especially if you are like me: curious and looking for something new. Here, atop Jebal Akhdar, you will discover the recently abandoned village of Habib, active walnut orchards, and an unused path all to yourself.

      60 minutes here

    4. Birkat Al Mouz Ruins

Here you’ll see how simple Omani people lived before. Also, you’ll have a chance to see Aflaj irrigation systems that are in a list of UNESCO World heritage. On our way to Wadi Al Madreen we’ll enjoy the exotic landscapes and oases of this place.

A memorable day exploring Nizwa and the beauty of Jebel Akhdar

We joined the Nizwa and Green Mountain Full Day Tour during our Oman trip, and it was one of the highlights of our visit. It was a great opportunity to experience a different side of Oman, away from the busy cities and closer to the country’s natural landscapes and traditions. The tour started with a visit to Nizwa, where we explored the famous Nizwa Fort and the traditional market. The fort was impressive, with its unique architecture and history, while the souq gave us a chance to see local products and experience the atmosphere of an old Omani town. The highlight of the day was visiting Jebel Akhdar, also known as the Green Mountain. The mountain scenery was beautiful, with dramatic valleys, terraced farms, and cooler weather compared with the lower areas. The views along the way were incredible and made the journey itself enjoyable. The tour was well organized, and the pace was comfortable. We had enough time to take photos, enjoy the scenery, and learn more about Omani culture from the guide. It was especially enjoyable because the trip combined history, nature, and local experiences in one day.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your detailed and wonderful feedback! We’re delighted to hear that the Nizwa and Jebel Akhdar tour was one of the highlights of your Oman trip. It’s great to know you enjoyed the combination of history, nature, local culture, and beautiful mountain scenery. We truly appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you back to Oman soon!

Best trip to Nizwa and Jebel Akhdar

We had an excellent day trip to Nizwa and Jebel Akhdar with our guide, Asaad. The tour was very well organized and paced, allowing enough time to explore without feeling rushed. Nizwa Fort and the souq were fascinating, and Asaad explained the history and local traditions clearly and thoughtfully, adding context that made the visit much more meaningful. The drive to Jebel Akhdar was comfortable and safe, and the views along the way were absolutely stunning. Once in the mountains, Asaad knew the best viewpoints and spots to stop for photos, which made the experience even better. What really stood out was Asaad’s professionalism and attitude. He was encouraging, friendly, knowledgeable, and very attentive to our comfort throughout the day. He answered all questions patiently and shared many insights about Omani culture and daily life, not just the tourist highlights. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Oman who wants to see both historical sites and breathtaking nature in one day, especially with a guide who genuinely cares about providing a high-quality experience

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re delighted that Asaad made your day trip to Nizwa and Jebel Akhdar enjoyable and meaningful. It’s wonderful to hear that you appreciated his knowledge, guidance, and care throughout the day. We hope to welcome you back for another adventure in Oman soon!

Nizwa and Green Mountain Group Full day tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Muscat.

How much does Nizwa and Green Mountain Group Full day tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $100 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Muscat usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Nizwa and Green Mountain Group Full day tour take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Muscat is not rushed.

Is Nizwa and Green Mountain Group Full day tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 80 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 47 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Muscat, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Nizwa and Green Mountain Group Full day tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Nizwa and Green Mountain Group Full day tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Nizwa and Green Mountain Group Full day tour?

    +

Around 16 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Muscat can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Muscat and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Nizwa and Green Mountain Group Full day tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Muscat within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Muscat?

    +

On Outty we rank every Muscat experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Wadi Shab and Bimmah Sinkhole Group Full Day Tour, Wadi Shab and Bimmah Sinkhole Full Day Tour, Daymaniat Islands Guided Snorkeling Adventure from Muscat. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Muscat?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Muscat?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
