Bimmah Sinkhole
Bimmah Sinkhole is a water-filled depression, structurally a sinkhole, in the limestone of eastern Muscat Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman. A lake of turquoise waters, it is 50 m by 70 m wide and approximately 20 m deep. The sinkhole was formed by a collapse of the surface layer due to dissolution of the underlying limestone.[However, locals believe that it was created by a meteorite, ‘Hawaiyat Najm’, which translates to ‘The Falling Star’ in Arabic, and hence the name. To preserve the sinkhole, the local municipality developed a park, Hawiyat Najm Park (Haweat Najm Park), around it, along with a stairway leading down to the lake.

Great trip for solo travellers
Everything was fine - plenty of water on the bus to make sure everyone stayed hydrated. The hiking speed was fully aligned to accommodate slow walkers. The challenge is the heat, not the terrain. I wouldn't recommend the trip for people who can't swim - the cave does require some swimming. Great option for solo travellers who don't drive.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your thoughtful feedback. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the experience and appreciated the organization, hydration support, and pace of the hike. Your helpful advice about swimming ability and the cave section will be valuable for future travelers. We’re also glad the tour worked well for solo travelers. We hope to welcome you again in Oman.

Gorgeous scenery, great adventure, good workout
I had an absolutely great day, thanks to good communication and sufficient information given prior to the trip. Everything was so well organised, and I was able to full enjoy the natural pools of Wadi Shab. We were only able to have packaged snacks before visiting the sinkhole because restaurants weren't open in the day due to Ramadan, otherwise, I'd say it's pretty much a perfect day. Mohammed was the perfect guide for this trip as he guided us through multiple pools to reach the cave, where we secured some great videos diving from the rock. He knows the place inside out so can make the experience extra adventurous. It's a good workout as well with the scenic hike and swimming.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful review. We’re delighted to hear that you had such a great day and that Mohammed made your Wadi Shab adventure so memorable. Your understanding regarding Ramadan is greatly appreciated. It’s fantastic to know you enjoyed the hike, swimming, and cave experience. We hope to welcome you again for another unforgettable journey in Oman.

This is truly a must-see if you're in the world, and when you have an excellent guide like Rachid, it's absolutely fantastic!
This is truly a must-see if you're in the world, and when you have an excellent guide like Rachid, it's absolutely fantastic! Be sure to be in excellent physical condition and wear water shoes with a good grip, as the rocks can be very slippery, but the scenery and swimming in this Whadi make it well worth it. Even though it was Ramadan, we still got a delicious hot lunch to eat in the van. Our group was 10, which was ideal. Thanks again to Rachid for guiding us safely through everything. The stop at the sinkhole was nice to stretch your legs, but it's certainly not a must.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful feedback! We’re very happy to hear that you enjoyed the adventure at Wadi Shab and that Rachid helped make the experience safe and memorable for everyone. You’re absolutely right — good water shoes and being prepared for the hike make the day much more enjoyable. We’re also glad you appreciated the lunch arrangement during Ramadan. Hope to see you again on another adventure in Oman!

Wadi Shab and Bimmah Sinkhole with GidOman
We booked out tour through GidOman and had the pleasure of having Rashid as our guide for thr day. We were part of a larger group, and Rashid was incredibly personable, professional, friendly, and charming. Despite there being some weaker swimmer in the griup, he remained patient throughout and made sure everyone felt safe and supported. Rashis is a credit to GidOman. To top it all off, he kindly treated the whole group to ice cream after a long day exploring the Wadi's and the Sinkhole-such a thoughtful gesture that made the experience even more memorable!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experience! We’re thrilled to hear that Rashid made your day memorable, keeping everyone safe and supported, and adding that special touch with ice cream. We’ll be sure to pass along your kind words to him.

Why this scores 92
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Wadi Shab and Bimmah Sinkhole Full Day Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Muscat.
How much does Wadi Shab and Bimmah Sinkhole Full Day Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $40 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Muscat usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Wadi Shab and Bimmah Sinkhole Full Day Tour take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Muscat is not rushed.
Is Wadi Shab and Bimmah Sinkhole Full Day Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 92 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 257 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Muscat, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.
Can I cancel or reschedule Wadi Shab and Bimmah Sinkhole Full Day Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Wadi Shab and Bimmah Sinkhole Full Day Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 8-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Wadi Shab and Bimmah Sinkhole Full Day Tour?
+
Around 90 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Muscat can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Muscat and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Wadi Shab and Bimmah Sinkhole Full Day Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Muscat within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Muscat?
+
On Outty we rank every Muscat experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Half-Day Private Muscat City Tour - Top Landmarks in Just 4 Hours, Wadi Shab and Bimmah Sinkhole Group Full Day Tour, Daymaniyat Islands Snorkeling Sharing Trip. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Muscat?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Muscat?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
