Thumbs up for the Traditional Water Puppet Show. Thumbs down for the Dinner On Cruise

I will break this review down into parts to make it easier: TOUR GUIDE - Asher was a really friendly guy. He made sure I was okay throughout the entire night. I felt completely safe with him. WATER PUPPET SHOW - this was awesome! Despite the fact that it is entirely in the Vietnamese language, the whole performance was entertaining and you can get the gist with the visuals. Plus there is a leaflet before you enter which has the order of show in the English translation. A huge shout out to the puppeteers and the narrators. DINNER - from here is the reason why this review is only average. First thing to note is that it is a buffet, which is fine. The issue is that the food was left out on dinner plates, not in chafing dishes which meant the food was cold after some time. Also, personally, I do not think keeping food out in the open is a good idea for reasons. Plus some dishes didn't have labels so I had to ask a few times what something was. Not great if you have dietary requirements/food allergies. CRUISE - there was onboard entertainment in the form of dancers and singers which was nice, but being out on the actual open deck was kind of...boring. You are really just looking at buildings. You do see the saigon skydeck, but because of how basic it looked at night, I didn't notice what it was at first. Plus, the boat was going super slow, apparently because of how big it is. Overall, I would give this a 3.5 out of 5 because the cruise ship portion of the tour was a bit of a letdown. Better to pay separately to see the puppet show on its own, in my opinion.

Response from the operator: Dear Ms. Ali, Thank you very much for spending time with us on The Traditional Water Puppet Show and Dinner On Cruise tour. Thank you for your detailed review which will be a nice information to other guests. After the pandemic, things has changed a lot. Therefore, there is some service still not recovered yet. This is why, they cannot give you the best experience as you expect. However, we hope with our effort, flexibility and energetic tour guide will bring you a good impression during time you was here. Once again, thank you and have a nice day. Lana

Night Activity: Traditional Water Puppet Show & Dinner on Cruise: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ho Chi Minh City.

How much does Night Activity: Traditional Water Puppet Show & Dinner on Cruise cost?

    +

Prices start at $35 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ho Chi Minh City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Night Activity: Traditional Water Puppet Show & Dinner on Cruise take?

    +

Is Night Activity: Traditional Water Puppet Show & Dinner on Cruise worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3/5 across 1 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Ho Chi Minh City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Night Activity: Traditional Water Puppet Show & Dinner on Cruise?

    +

Is Night Activity: Traditional Water Puppet Show & Dinner on Cruise suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Night Activity: Traditional Water Puppet Show & Dinner on Cruise?

    +

Around 0 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ho Chi Minh City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ho Chi Minh City and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Night Activity: Traditional Water Puppet Show & Dinner on Cruise start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ho Chi Minh City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Ho Chi Minh City?

    +

On Outty we rank every Ho Chi Minh City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Adventure Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta Tour From HCM, Cu Chi Tunnels Small-Group Tour: Vietnam War Underground Network, Cu Chi underground tour - Learn Vietnam war with others. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Ho Chi Minh City?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Ho Chi Minh City?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
