What you get

    About this experience

Mekong is the life blood of Vietnam.  The mighty river is one of the longest in the world. Along with its intricate network of snaking rivers, streams and canals, it is like the veins of the human body. They carry people and goods. They feed the fertile lands that make it possible for Vietnam to grow the immense amounts of agricultural produce necessary to feed millions and sustain life in Vietnam. No visit to Vietnam would be complete without experiencing Mekong and this special tour is unique because you get to see the countryside by van, the mighty river and islands by boat, and cycle deeper into the jungle where travel by vehicle would be very challenging or impossible.  This tour takes you off the beaten path to meet locals and learn about their “water hyacinth” lifestyle.

    Exceptional Experience

On August 24, I had the wonderful opportunity to join a guided tour around the Mekong Delta with our exceptional tour guide, Jacky Hieu. It was a truly memorable and delightful experience with a well-planned itinerary. We started with a visit to the famous Buddhist temple before taking a boat ride to a nearby island, where we enjoyed authentic Vietnamese tea paired with fresh honey and dried banana. Next, we headed to the amazing "Coconut Island." We explored its scenic coconut trees and charming waterways on foot, by tuk-tuk, and by traditional boat through the canal network. The natural landscapes were breathtaking throughout the trip. To top it all off, we were treated to a delicious lunch featuring excellent local seafood and fresh vegetable dishes. Our guide, Mr. Jacky Hieu, was outstanding—extremely knowledgeable, kind, polite, and genuinely humble. His hospitality made the experience even more special. I highly recommend this tour to anyone, whether you are traveling solo, as a couple, with friends, or with family. It stands out as one of the best day trips I have ever experienced during my travels.

    Amazing tour

We rarely do organised tours. This tour lead by Mr Happiness was faultless. We were shown much of the Mekong Delta and local life that you otherwise wouldn’t experience. Met at 8am with a private car we were driven 2 hours to a local market on the river. Interesting and a unique insight into life of the locals. We were driven on motorbikes through local streets which were definitely off the beaten track. Morning tea with a local family, delicious fresh fruit from their farm and refreshing tea. Later lunch was also included, cooked just for us. The boat tour took us to an island where we saw more of the local culture. We were rowed down a canal by two locals this also was interesting, the canal was quite busy with other canoes. Throughout Mr Happiness was attentive, informative and very knowledgeable. Highly recommended for some special memories of this amazing country.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your fantastic review. We are delighted that you had a great time exploring Vietnam with us. Your support inspires us to keep delivering the best possible experiences.

Perfect for families escaping the hustle

We had an amazing day on this private Mekong Delta tour. It was relaxing, luxurious, and we felt genuinely spoilt from start to finish. Everything was so well organised, and the pace was perfect, especially for travelling with children. There was always something to keep the kids entertained, while still allowing us to slow down and enjoy the experience. Our host was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable, making us feel comfortable throughout the day. It was a stress-free experience that exceeded our expectations. Non Touristy - Mekong Delta 1 Day With Biking: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ho Chi Minh City.

How much does Non Touristy - Mekong Delta 1 Day With Biking cost?

    +

Prices start at $133 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ho Chi Minh City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Non Touristy - Mekong Delta 1 Day With Biking take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ho Chi Minh City is not rushed.

Is Non Touristy - Mekong Delta 1 Day With Biking worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 136 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Ho Chi Minh City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Non Touristy - Mekong Delta 1 Day With Biking?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Non Touristy - Mekong Delta 1 Day With Biking suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Non Touristy - Mekong Delta 1 Day With Biking?

    +

Around 48 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ho Chi Minh City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ho Chi Minh City and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Non Touristy - Mekong Delta 1 Day With Biking start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ho Chi Minh City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Ho Chi Minh City?

    +

On Outty we rank every Ho Chi Minh City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Adventure Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta Tour From HCM, Cu Chi Tunnels Small-Group Tour: Vietnam War Underground Network, Cu Chi underground tour - Learn Vietnam war with others. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Ho Chi Minh City?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Ho Chi Minh City?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
