The best of NY in a short amount of time!
This is the perfect experience because you can let your tour guide know what you'd like to see ahead of time and they plan the day accordingly to make the most out of the time you have together. Our guide Denise was fantastic and made sure we saw all the things we wanted and shared history and interesting facts about each of the areas we visited. She also gave us great tips for other areas to explore and things to do on our own, as well as areas to avoid! I highly recommend this activity and would ask for Denise as your guide. Enjoy New York, I know my husband and I sure did!
Response from the operator: It’s fantastic that Denise helped you make the most of your time in New York with great insights and tips. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experience! We hope to welcome you and your husband on another adventure soon!

Tour with Mei
Our took deviated a bit from my initial desire to see some of Robert Moses impact on NYC, but Mei guided my son and I through Grand Central Station, the subway system, and Roosevelt Island with information on some of Moses’ influences on the city. Wish we had more time, but the lines were very long for the ferry, so we took the overhead tram ride to Roosevelt Island and had a pleasant walk with really nice views of Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We're glad that, even though the tour took a slight turn from your original plan, Mei was able to guide you and your son through some fascinating parts of the city while still touching on Robert Moses' influence. We appreciate your flexibility and hope to welcome you on another experience in the future, perhaps with even more time to explore.

Fabulous private walking tour of NYC
Ross was our tour guide and he was fantastic. He listened to what we wanted to see and made sure we packed it all in - even though it rained much of the time! We came prepared. Ross was an excellent and very helpful communicator prior to our meet up as well. Highly recommend!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're absolutely delighted to hear that you had such a fantastic time with Ross, even with a bit of rain in the mix. It’s great to know he listened to your preferences and helped you make the most of every moment. We’ll be sure to pass on your kind words—he’ll be thrilled! We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you on another unforgettable experience soon. See you on your next adventure!

Disappointing Private Tour
We have booked many private tours for our family when we traveled in other US cities and though Europe. I expect the guide to be knowledgeable about the city and provide context to the sites we visit. We gave our guide a list of places we'd like to visit during our 6 hour private tour well in advance. I expected the guide would plan an itinerary and lead us through the day. This did not happen. Of the 8 spots we requested to see, we only made it to 4 locations. Our guide did not have much to share about these locations. It felt more like they viewed their job as transportation facilitator.
Response from the operator: Hello Cathy, We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet expectations, especially after the effort you put into planning your day. We understand how disappointing it must have been to miss several requested stops and to feel a lack of context during your visit. While events like the New York City Half Marathon can unexpectedly affect transportation and schedules, we regret that this wasn’t communicated more clearly. Your feedback is invaluable, and we are reviewing how we can better prepare our hosts and ensure guests have a seamless and enriching experience. Warm regards, Ruslan and the City Unscripted team

NY with a different perspective
A full immersion into New York gems. Mei helped me understanding different aspects of NY by visiting Brooklyn, Dumbo, Chelsea and and by taking the ferry, bus and subway
Response from the operator: Thanks for sharing your experience! It sounds like Mei gave you an incredible deep dive into New York, blending iconic spots with local insights. Glad you got to experience the city through different perspectives—hope to welcome you again for more discoveries!

Why this scores 70
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
New York Full Day Private Tour: Hidden Gems & Local Highlights: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for New York.
How much does New York Full Day Private Tour: Hidden Gems & Local Highlights cost?
+
Prices start at $15 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in New York usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does New York Full Day Private Tour: Hidden Gems & Local Highlights take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in New York is not rushed.
Is New York Full Day Private Tour: Hidden Gems & Local Highlights worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 34 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in New York, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule New York Full Day Private Tour: Hidden Gems & Local Highlights?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is New York Full Day Private Tour: Hidden Gems & Local Highlights suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book New York Full Day Private Tour: Hidden Gems & Local Highlights?
+
Around 12 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in New York can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in New York and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does New York Full Day Private Tour: Hidden Gems & Local Highlights start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central New York within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in New York?
+
New York has more bookable experiences than any other city on Outty, and the quality spread is brutal. Observation decks are commoditised, so we score them on timed-entry reliability and sunset slots. Food tours and borough walks are where the ranking really separates operators, and the top scores in the city all come from small-group guides. On Outty we rank every New York experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Grand Canyon VIP Helicopter Tour, Half-Day Bus Tour of NYC Top Highlights, NYC Bus Tour of Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens: Art, Food & Sports. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit New York?
+
September to early November, and late April through June. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in New York?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
