You might get a really bad feeling about this place. And so you should. Washington Square Park is haunted by so many different spirits it’s earned the (pretty cheesy) nickname “Washington Scare Park.”

Great mix of ghost stories, NYC history, and drinks
John was a great tour guide who was very knowledgeable about NYC history as well as the haunted spots we visited. The tour was a fun mix of seeing spooky spots, local history, as well as visiting a variety of local bars for drinks which was a great way for the tour group to mingle. Our group was a mix of visitors and locals which was fun. We had a great time and would definitely recommend it to visitors and locals alike.
Response from the operator: Hello, there! Thank you for your kind review! We’re delighted that you enjoyed the mix of history, haunted sites, and local bars, and that the group atmosphere made it even more enjoyable. We’ll be sure to pass along your compliments to John. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to see you again on another tour!

Disappointed
This is probably a great tour when the guide doesn’t cancel 20 min from the start of the tour. But they did and we were shifted to a completely different tour and route. The tour we went on was great but wasn’t what I’d paid for or wanted.
Response from the operator: I’m sorry to hear about the last-minute cancellation of your tour. Your feedback is very important to us, and we take it seriously as we strive to improve. While we’re glad to hear you enjoyed the alternate tour, we understand it wasn’t what you originally signed up for. If this has not been resolved yet, please reach out to us at guestrelations@wejunket.com with the name your booking was under, and we’ll do our best to address your concerns and assist you further.

Great for History enthusiasts with a small drink
I am a history enthusiast and I love hearing stories of the development of things and the origin stories of all these places in NY. It was not so centered on drinking but that’s understandable as it was on a Friday and it is a very busy night to be able to cram stories and drinks in a 2 hour experience. I had fun and learned a lot and I think that is what matters. Loved the tour guide
Response from the operator: We're thrilled you enjoyed the history and stories on the tour, and it’s great to hear that the guide made a positive impact. We appreciate your understanding of the busy night and we hope to see you again soon!

Not a bar hopping experience
Jess, our tour guide, was enthusiastic and thorough with history and stories of the area. Fun for some but not for all. We started out at the Stonewall Inn where we stayed long enough to get one drink. We were told we'd get 10-15 minutes at each bar (3 total) but would need to move on to stay on the timeline. We arrived 30 minutes late and appreciated her waiting for our group of 6. We loved the Stonewall Inn and went back after our tour for a drag show (1 drag queen). We walked to various places not far away in Greenwich Village. We arrived to our 2nd bar too late. It was Saturday night and they were charging a cover charge when we got there so we had to skip it. We walked to different buildings and heard stories of the occupants. The last bar, Down the Hatch, some of our party went in. I elected to skip it and get some food as I was hungry by that time. Overall, I think it was a good experience but that the tour guide had a rough crowd with our group. Most just wanted to drink and not do a lot of walking. They started to get edgy and vocal and Jess seemed to not notice but may have been being nice. I had fun and would recommend it to the right group.
Response from the operator: Nicole, thanks for taking the time to leave this review. We're glad you'd recommend our tour to the right group, and that you had a good experience overall.

Why this scores 56
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
New York Ghosts Boos and Booze Haunted Pub Crawl: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for New York.
How much does New York Ghosts Boos and Booze Haunted Pub Crawl cost?
+
Prices start at $29 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in New York usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does New York Ghosts Boos and Booze Haunted Pub Crawl take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in New York is not rushed.
Is New York Ghosts Boos and Booze Haunted Pub Crawl worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.9/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in New York, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule New York Ghosts Boos and Booze Haunted Pub Crawl?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is New York Ghosts Boos and Booze Haunted Pub Crawl suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 21. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 2-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book New York Ghosts Boos and Booze Haunted Pub Crawl?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in New York can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in New York and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does New York Ghosts Boos and Booze Haunted Pub Crawl start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central New York within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in New York?
+
New York has more bookable experiences than any other city on Outty, and the quality spread is brutal. Observation decks are commoditised, so we score them on timed-entry reliability and sunset slots. Food tours and borough walks are where the ranking really separates operators, and the top scores in the city all come from small-group guides. On Outty we rank every New York experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Grand Canyon VIP Helicopter Tour, Half-Day Bus Tour of NYC Top Highlights, NYC Bus Tour of Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens: Art, Food & Sports. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit New York?
+
September to early November, and late April through June. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in New York?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
