    About this experience

Mount Nemrut the legend is famous for its giant mousalea and God statues which were built for Commagene King; “Antiochus I” who ruled in Adıyaman except of its height size. The king have these statues and mousalea done to show his appreciation for the Gods and his own ancestors. Another interesting point is here; there are two different sets of the same group of statues. One group of them welcomes the rise of the sun and the others welcomes the sunset. Isn’t it gorgeous!

    Discover a different history

I recently participated in the 2-day Nemrut Mountain Tour departing from Istanbul and this tour was an unforgettable experience for me. As someone who is interested in history and nature, I have been wanting to do this tour for a long time. You can get information about the history and culture of the Kingdom of Commagene and discover a different culture.

    It was a smooth experience

Everything was prepared as I made the reservation. The agency provided the necessary information for the tour. We went from Istanbul to Adıyaman by plane. Then the car was waiting for us to go from the airport to the hotel. We returned the same way on the way back. Accompanied by a guide, we went up the hill to the Komagene Kingdom. The guide was very helpful and knowledgeable. The sunrise and sunset were wonderful. I was amazed by the magnificence of the statues from different time periods. It is a great chance to experience the reemergence of history's forgotten civilization.

    Our guide was very attentive

On the first day of the tour, we flew from Istanbul to Adıyaman. After arriving in Adıyaman, we checked into the hotel where we would stay and after a short rest, we set out towards Mount Nemrut National Park. We had a pleasant trek among the lush green valleys and hills of the national park and enjoyed the fresh air. The most exciting part of the tour was reaching the top and seeing the mausoleums and statues. Our guide gave us information about the history and culture of the Kingdom of Commagene and explained what the mausoleums and statues represent. Seeing these mausoleums and statues impressed me greatly and I felt like I had dived into the depths of history. On the second day of the tour, we visited Kahta Archeology Museum. We saw many artifacts from the Commagene Kingdom in the museum, and these artifacts showed us the magnificence of the kingdom. After visiting the museum, we went to the airport for our flight from Adıyaman to Istanbul.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Istanbul?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Istanbul?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
