Elephant orphanage and Nairobi NP
We reserved a private tour from Nairobi to the elephant orphanage and Nairobi National Park. The safari van that picked us up was very old and run down. The driver was not as knowledgeable about the animals as our other 3 previous drivers. The safari van had mechanical issues (we had to stop at least 8 times in the park and a few times on the drive to the airport -we had to drive with our hazard lights flashing). We have been in contact with the company on all this. We have asked for some compensation because of the mechanical issues (we were disappointed with the company and tour). We were told an investigation has started on our complaint.

We have reviewed your complaint carefully, including the vehicle tracking records and the driver-guide’s report. Our records show that you were picked up on time at 9:30 AM, arrived early at the Elephant Orphanage and secured a good viewing position, then proceeded to Nairobi National Park from around 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. We acknowledge that the vehicle developed a speed governor connection issue later in the day, especially after visiting the Hippo Pool and while exiting the park. The driver stopped at a fuel station on the highway to have the issue checked and resolved, then continued slowly to avoid triggering the same problem again. You were still dropped at the airport in good time as planned. Regarding the claim of stopping eight times inside the park, our investigation does not support that number. However, we do understand that any vehicle issue during a tour can be frustrating, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment caused. Had the vehicle completely broken down, we would immediately have arranged an alternative vehicle. In this case, the issue was identified as a speed governor connection problem and was managed so that your tour and airport transfer could still continue safely. We remain committed to offering reliable, enjoyable safari experiences, and we appreciate your patience during the tour. Thank you again for traveling with us, and we hope to have the opportunity to serve you better in the future.

Great experience!
I first realized I had made a mistake and booked in the afternoon instead of the morning. Customer service was great and changed the booking on very short notice. We were picked up at the hotel by a very friendly and experienced driver/guide who knew every corner of the park and explained about the different animals. His driving skills was definitely impressive, some of the roads there are not for beginners. I would absolutely recommend Cruzeiro Safaris. Thank you for an amazing experience! Now we all have to contribute to taking care of our planet so we can keep these beautiful animals for the generations to come 🥹

Great if you don't have time to go further afield
I really enjoyed this tour. The staff were friendly, the tour was just the right length for an afternoon activity, and it all ran very smoothly. That said, it is definitely an inferior experience to some of the Safari options further afield - mainly because there aren't all that many animals, so if you have time, I'd get out of Nairobi and do a safari elsewhere.

Excellent Trip and Great Guides
We were picked up early from our hotel in Nairobi by Julius who was very friendly and helpful throughout. As we had time to kill he took us for some coffee and shopping at the Golden Eagle Cafe which had excellent coffee and nice souvenirs. Onto the elephants at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and Julius helped us getting a good view as well as suggesting a last minute change to our itinerary to go to the giraffe sanctuary as well, which we paid for separately. The baby elephants are incredible and the work of the wildlife trust is amazing in rescuing and caring for them. Next stop was the giraffe sanctuary which was very busy as this was a Sunday afternoon in the build up to Christmas. Once again, Julius was very helpful and showed us around as well as taking some photographs for us. Afterwards we were taken to Carnivores restaurant for lunch which is a bit of a Nairobi institution and was very nice. After lunch, Julius handed us over to our game driver for the afternoon, Mondio (sorry for the spelling) and we transferred from the Nissan that we had travelled around in to a very capable 4x4 Toyota Hiace with a pop up roof that provides shade, but lets you stick your head out of the roof for viewing game. He was an excellent driver, with a great eye and very knowledgable and friendly. Also a photographer which was great for us. On entering the Nairobi National Park, we paid our entry separately (it is card only as the tour company had said) and then the most amazing drive started. What you see is down to luck as these are wild animals, but a good driver/guide helps enormously and we were incredibly fortunate for our afternoon drive. As well as amazing bird life, we saw giraffes, zebra, lions, white rhino, black rhino, baboons, hartebeest, impala, gazelle and tortoises. Finally we were dropped off at our hotel around 7pm feeling very fortunate. I cannot believe what a great day this was.
