Giraffe Centre
The Giraffe Center is located in Lang'ata, approximately 20 kilometres (12 mi) from the centre of Nairobi, Kenya. It was established in order to protect the endangered giraffe, that is found only in the grasslands of East Africa. In 1979, the Giraffe Center, a nature sanctuary for visiting and including wildlife conservation education for urban school children, was started by Jock Leslie Melville, the Kenyan grandson of a Scottish Earl, when he and his wife Betty captured two baby giraffe to start a programme of breeding giraffe on their Langata property, site of the present Centre. Since then the programme has had huge success, resulting in the introduction of several breeding pairs of Rothschild Giraffe into Kenyan national parks. By 1983 enough money had been raised to establish the Giraffe Visitor's Center as a tourist destination just outside Nairobi. The main attraction for both school children and visitors is feeding giraffes from a raised observation platform. The Giraffe Center is also home to several warthogs which freely roam the area along with the giraffes.

A Delightful Cultural and Wildlife Experience.
I traveled to Nairobi with two relatives, and we wanted to experience both Kenya's wildlife and its history. After considering several sightseeing options, we chose Camping Tours and Safaris because the itinerary included three attractions we were eager to visit. Nairobi National Park exceeded our expectations. Watching wildlife in a natural setting while seeing Nairobi's skyline in the background was a unique experience. We took plenty of photographs and enjoyed observing the different animals. At the Giraffe Center, we learned about the importance of protecting endangered giraffes and preserving their habitats. The Karen Blixen Museum was a wonderful final stop, giving us a deeper appreciation of the historical stories associated with the area. A Memorable Experience for Two

An Educational Family Adventure
We booked Camping Tours and Safaris for a family outing with our children, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our stay in Nairobi. A Perfect Break During a Business Trip

A Wonderful Day Exploring Nairobi’s Hidden Treasures
