Gobi desert fun
Mongolia is a very interesting, vast, peaceful and beautiful place. Seeing wild horses, sand dunes and flaming cliffs, camel crossings and hiking the scenic gorge; sleeping in gers - it was all wonderful. There is much history and culture here that I was happy to learn about and experience. But my favorite part was meeting the people. Everyone was kind, happy and personable. Our guide Muunuu and our driver Tuumero were especially great - so knowledgeable, friendly and fun. I believe we will be friends for life.
Response from the operator: "Friends for life" - this is so heartwarming and possibly the best part of any trip. We are so glad you experienced Mongolia through its landscapes and its people. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. It helps us a lot. We hope to see you back on the steppe one day. With heartfelt thanks and gratitude, Ron, On behalf of the Mongolian Ways Team

Gobi - Mongolia
It was hot, we experienced the mirage of the desert, but we were in our SUV's with air conditioner or in the gears with at least ventilators, if not cooling system. And when outside, to ride the camel to the little sand dune and back experience bitted all the oven like heat, to have the picknick lunches under the cover of the SUVs was interesting and new. The sunsets, the sky at night unbelievable beautiful.
Response from the operator: Picnic lunches under the SUVs, camel rides in oven-like heat, and then those night skies - that is the Gobi in a nutshell, and you described it perfectly. Thank you for taking the time to share both of your experiences with us. It means a great deal. With heartfelt thanks and deep gratitude, Ron On Behalf of the Mongolian Ways Team

An amazing trip to Mongolia with Mongolian Ways
We had an amazing trip to Mongolia with Mongolian Ways! Everything was very well organized from start to finish. Our guide, Mono, was outstanding—professional with very good English, caring, and always made sure we were well taken care of. The drivers were excellent and the vehicles were comfortable and in great condition. The itinerary showcased the best of Mongolia, the Ger camps were very nice and the picnic lunches were made with generosity and love - exactly what you need for a very successful vacation. We highly recommend Mongolian Ways!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this! We are thrilled to hear that everything came together so well for you. I will make sure Mono and our drivers hear your kind words - they will mean a great deal to them. The picnic lunches made with generosity and love are our favorite line. That is exactly the spirit we try to bring to every journey. We hope to welcome you back to Mongolia one day! With heartfelt thanks and deep gratitude, Ron, on behalf of everyone at Mongolian Ways

Mysteries of the Gobi: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ulaanbaatar.
How much does Mysteries of the Gobi cost?
+
Prices start at $3,216 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ulaanbaatar usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Mysteries of the Gobi take?
+
Plan for about 192 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ulaanbaatar is not rushed.
Is Mysteries of the Gobi worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable family friendly in Ulaanbaatar, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Mysteries of the Gobi?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Mysteries of the Gobi suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 192-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Mysteries of the Gobi?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ulaanbaatar can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ulaanbaatar and add a light layer if any part of the 192-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Mysteries of the Gobi start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ulaanbaatar within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Ulaanbaatar?
+
On Outty we rank every Ulaanbaatar experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include BEST 5* Chinggis Khaan Airport UBN Ulaanbaatar Transfer Taxi 24/7, A day trip to Terelj National Park and Statue of Chinggis Khan, Genghis Khan Statue+Terelj Park+CamelRide+Eagle. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Ulaanbaatar?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Ulaanbaatar?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
What is included in Mysteries of the Gobi?
+
Included: Drinking water; Domestic flight Ulaanbaatar/Murun/Ulaanbaatar; Accommodation as per program; Lunch; and Dinner. Not included: Travel expenses to/from Mongolia; Travel Insurance; Mongolian visa; and Excess luggage. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.
Does Mysteries of the Gobi include hotel pickup?
+
Yes, pickup is offered for every traveler from 64 listed pickup locations in and around Ulaanbaatar. Be ready about 120 minutes before the start time. You can also enter a custom pickup address when booking.

+

+
