Never again

After a week, I can say: by far the worst thing I experienced in Nairobi was the airport transfer with Mwashi. As agreed, someone with my name was waiting in the arrivals area. Unfortunately, it wasn't the driver as agreed, but someone else who was supposed to call the driver. Then they said the driver would be there in about two minutes... After 30 minutes and several inquiries later, no one had arrived, and the guy with the sign still had several other people to attend to. Only when I then asked via WhatsApp if I should take an Uber did I get a different answer – namely, that I should contact them when I arrived. I then texted back that I had already been waiting for 30 minutes, and then, yes, then someone actually arrived five minutes later. The first question was where we wanted to go... which I had already provided, and I had booked a private transfer so I wouldn't have to worry about it. I then had to tell George, the driver, the name of the restaurant located in the apartment building. The icing on the cake (pretty predictable, really...) was that card payment wasn't possible. And the ATM at the airport only dispensed 1000-schilling notes. And surprise, surprise: of course, he didn't have any change... and naturally, the idea of rounding down as compensation for the 30-minute wait at 10 pm never occurred to him. At some point, I just didn't care anymore, but I can only warn others about this company and will certainly never book with them again.

Avoid Mwashi Airport Transfer & Taxi at All Costs – Unreliable, Dishonest, and Costly!

If I could give zero stars, I would. Mwashi Airport Transfer & Taxi is a complete disaster, and I strongly urge everyone to avoid them. I booked a transfer with them for my return flight home, expecting a professional and punctual service. Instead, I got lies, delays, and stress. The driver kept claiming they were “just 5-20 minutes away” for over an hour—a blatant lie—and didn’t actually arrive until 80 minutes past the scheduled pickup time. By then, I had no choice but to overpay for an emergency transfer to make sure I didn’t miss my flight. When I reached out for a refund, they flat-out refused, showing zero accountability for their incompetence. Their lack of professionalism and disregard for their customers is shocking. If you need a reliable airport transfer, do yourself a favor and book with literally anyone else. Mwashi Airport Transfer & Taxi is a scam.

Response from the operator: We sincerely regret to hear about your experience with our service. Punctuality and reliability are at the core of our values, and it’s clear that we fell short in your case. We understand how stressful travel can be, and we truly apologize for any inconvenience caused. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we take it very seriously. We are actively reviewing this situation to understand what went wrong and to ensure it doesn’t happen again We appreciate your honest feedback and hope to regain your trust in the future.

Left Standed at Airport!

The driver left me stranded, 8 had to go.l though a long line for immigration and luggage scan. After disembarking from the plane driver did not wait for me to complete the process. Or return my call. I do not recommend them at all!

Response from the operator: We’re truly sorry for the inconvenience you experienced. Your feedback is important, and we’ll review our policies to ensure better service in the future. Please reach out to us at gmwashii@gmail.com so we can address this matter further.

Perfect service.

I don't know why these folks do not have more reviews. I traveled from the US for my first time visit to the African continent. I was nervous as a solo female traveler. Well! all those nerves vanished after my first ride with Eliakim (Bosire). Airport pick was at night and was very late. A different employee stood with my name on a sign and waited patiently for my arrival. Eliakim made me feel comfortable and took me safely to my Airbnb and even showed me how to check in. During my stay Eliakim handled all of my travels around Nairobi. He was early for every pick up, always parked where I could see him immediately and chose only the safest routes. I briefly rode with a different company one day during my stay and quickly learned that it was best to stick with Mwashi Airport Transfer & Taxi. Not everyone is as careful with transporting their female riders as Mwashi. Do not hesitate to book with them. They do ask for advance payment. It was very easy and was no issue at all.

Safe, reliable transport

We were really nervous that we would arrive after dark in a strange city without the certainty for safetyof having someone meet us. Then we read about Mwashi airport transfer and taxi service on TripAdvisor. After reading other’s reviews and connecting with George, Vincent and Whinny on WhatsApp, I felt perfectly confident that we had a safe ride to our hotel and a reliable driver for some sightseeing the following day. I would definitely recommend Mwashi to any traveler to Nairobi!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re thrilled to hear that we provided you with a safe and reliable service. Your recommendation means a lot to us. Safe travels and hope to assist you again in the future!

Mwashi Airport Transfer & Taxi: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Nairobi.

How much does Mwashi Airport Transfer & Taxi cost?

+

Prices start at $27 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Nairobi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Mwashi Airport Transfer & Taxi take?

+

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Nairobi is not rushed.

Is Mwashi Airport Transfer & Taxi worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.9/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Nairobi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Mwashi Airport Transfer & Taxi?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Mwashi Airport Transfer & Taxi suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Mwashi Airport Transfer & Taxi?

+

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Nairobi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Nairobi and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Mwashi Airport Transfer & Taxi start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Nairobi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Nairobi?

+

On Outty we rank every Nairobi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include 3 days group joining safari to Maasai Mara with a Land Cruiser Jeep, 1 Day trip to Hells Gate and optional Lake Naivasha From Nairobi, Nairobi Masai village Day Tour Experience. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Nairobi?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Nairobi?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
