Wonderful morning in Muir Woods and Sausalito
Peter picked us up about an hour earlier than scheduled (he let us know the night before) to avoid the crowds. This made the day! We were able to have a few extra stops (Muir beach and the palace), and we were one of the first to arrive at Muir Woods. Walking through the woods nearly by ourselves was so peaceful, by the time we left the parking lot was packed. Peter was funny and engaging as well as knowledgable of the history and area. We very much enjoyed the tour.

Big Woods was awesome!
The driver/guide was very knowledgeable and make the history very interesting! He was extremely nice.

Pick up was about 15...
Pick up was about 15 minutes late owing to traffic, but once we were with the group, everything was great. Michael was an excellent guide. He narrated the entire drive, which was an added bonus as I was not expecting it. He was full of information about the City of SF and Muir Woods. The Muir Woods trip worked out perfectly. We had plenty of time to buy souvenirs, get our NPS passport stamped, and hike out to the fourth bridge and back. We also managed to stop along the way to hear a free 15-minute ranger talk. We then went on the van to Sausalito, but opted to stay there on our own and take the 1:35 ferry back to SFO. We did miss out on the Vista stop en route to Muir Woods - it was foggy on the way out of SFO, so the guide opted not to stop, instead stopping on the way back to SFO from Sausalito. I wish we had stopped despite the fog. Overall, a great trip. Sometimes I don't like doing tours to parks as I wish I had more time to hike on my own, but the way Muir Woods is set up I didn't really feel like I was missing out on anything by being with a group. Highly recommend!

Fantastic trip to Muir...
Fantastic trip to Muir woods, Sausalito and other venues to experience some breathtaking views. Peter our guide was fantastic, helpful, friendly and very informative.

Muir Woods!
Really enjoyed our guide. He gave us so much good information!! We learned so much about the city, Muir Woods and Sausalito. Also made a stop to get some really cool pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge! Con… van was a little cramped - the space between the rows was so small and it couldn’t be fixed.

Muir Woods and Sausalito Morning Tour Small-Group Half Day: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for San Francisco.
How much does Muir Woods and Sausalito Morning Tour Small-Group Half Day cost?
+
Prices start at $99 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in San Francisco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Muir Woods and Sausalito Morning Tour Small-Group Half Day take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in San Francisco is not rushed.
Is Muir Woods and Sausalito Morning Tour Small-Group Half Day worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 79 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 640 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in San Francisco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Muir Woods and Sausalito Morning Tour Small-Group Half Day?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Muir Woods and Sausalito Morning Tour Small-Group Half Day suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Muir Woods and Sausalito Morning Tour Small-Group Half Day?
+
Around 224 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in San Francisco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in San Francisco and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Muir Woods and Sausalito Morning Tour Small-Group Half Day start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central San Francisco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in San Francisco?
+
San Francisco packs Alcatraz, Muir Woods, Napa and the bay into day-trip range, which makes booking order matter more than anywhere else in the US. Alcatraz sells out weeks ahead, wine-country vans fill on weekends, and the best food walks in the Mission and Chinatown cap at a dozen people. Our ranking favours small groups and guides who live in the neighbourhood they walk. On Outty we rank every San Francisco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small Group Yosemite and Giant Sequoias Day Trip from San Francisco, Golden Gate Bridge Muir Woods Sausalito with Optional Alcatraz, Chinatown, North Beach, Little Italy: 7 Tastings & History. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit San Francisco?
+
September and October, the city's real summer, once the fog season breaks. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in San Francisco?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
What is included in Muir Woods and Sausalito Morning Tour Small-Group Half Day?
