MUIR WOODS and so much more—a GREAT day out!!!

Our main interest was to experience Muir Woods—this tour helped us to easily get there and early to enjoy the majestic woods before the crowds arrived, and offered so much more. The option to be picked up from our SF hotel was fantastic, especially for the early morning start. Our tour guide Brian was superb—he brought great energy and enthusiasm as he shared info about SF and all that we would see. Great stops for photo ops and along beautiful vistas of the Bay and Pacific Ocean. Wrapping up the day with lunch in Sausalito was perfect before heading back to our hotel. A GREAT day out!

A Perfect Day – Muir Woods & Sausalito

We had an amazing day on the Muir Woods and Sausalito tour with Best Bay Area Tours. Our guide Steven was fantastic – really friendly, knowledgeable, and full of great local commentary throughout the trip. You could tell he genuinely loves the area and enjoys sharing it with visitors. Muir Woods itself is an absolute must-see. Walking among the towering redwoods is such a unique experience and the park is incredibly peaceful and beautiful. Along the way we also stopped at a few lookout points with breathtaking views of the Bay Area and the Golden Gate Bridge, which made the day even more special. The tour finished with some free time in Sausalito, which was the perfect way to end the trip. It’s a beautiful waterfront town with lovely views across the bay back toward San Francisco. There are plenty of great restaurants and cafés, little shops, and it’s very easy to walk around and explore. Everything ran smoothly from start to finish. The tour departed on time and communication from the company and Steven was excellent. Highly recommend this tour if you’re visiting the Bay Area.

A truly fantastic experience from start to finish

My sister and I just finished a Muir Woods and Sausalito tour, and we honestly had the best day! Muir Woods is a stunning and special place with a gorgeous smell and pure air. Our tour guide, Steven, was absolutely amazing. His knowledge of San Francisco was so clear, it felt like he knew everything, and he shared it in such an easy, engaging way. He was also really down to earth with a great sense of humour, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We especially loved that we weren’t stuck in the van for long periods, it was the perfect balance of driving and exploring. The sights and viewpoints were incredible, and every stop felt worthwhile. Sausalito was very cool we had such a great lunch, and Steven ice cream recommendation did not disappoint at all! Overall, the whole day was fantastic. We’d highly recommend this tour, especially if you get Steven as your guide!

Muir Woods and Sausalito Small Group Tour From San Francisco: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for San Francisco.

How much does Muir Woods and Sausalito Small Group Tour From San Francisco cost?

    +

Prices start at $114 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in San Francisco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Muir Woods and Sausalito Small Group Tour From San Francisco take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in San Francisco is not rushed.

Is Muir Woods and Sausalito Small Group Tour From San Francisco worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in San Francisco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Muir Woods and Sausalito Small Group Tour From San Francisco?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Muir Woods and Sausalito Small Group Tour From San Francisco suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Muir Woods and Sausalito Small Group Tour From San Francisco?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in San Francisco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in San Francisco and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Muir Woods and Sausalito Small Group Tour From San Francisco start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central San Francisco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in San Francisco?

    +

San Francisco packs Alcatraz, Muir Woods, Napa and the bay into day-trip range, which makes booking order matter more than anywhere else in the US. Alcatraz sells out weeks ahead, wine-country vans fill on weekends, and the best food walks in the Mission and Chinatown cap at a dozen people. Our ranking favours small groups and guides who live in the neighbourhood they walk. On Outty we rank every San Francisco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small Group Yosemite and Giant Sequoias Day Trip from San Francisco, Golden Gate Bridge Muir Woods Sausalito with Optional Alcatraz, Chinatown, North Beach, Little Italy: 7 Tastings & History. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit San Francisco?

    +

September and October, the city's real summer, once the fog season breaks. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in San Francisco?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
