    About this experience

When you emerge, your skin will be refreshed, clear, and soft to the touch. Beach showers and changing rooms are available to remove any excess mud. For this beach experience, you will need your bathing suit and flip flops; the host provides fluffy towels and plenty of water. Once showered and clothed we will depart La Bocana. Then, enjoy an authentic Mexican mezcal tasting. We will provide an educational and tasteful exploration of Oaxaca’s drink of choice. Do something local

This adventure was very different from other tours we have taken. We were laughing the entire time. You are in your bathing suit and some sweet, elderly woman massages mud, over all of your skin. The mud dries remarkably quickly. Next step exfoliation, it requires a dip in the sea or a primitive shower to get all the mud off your body. After the mud message we went to the most beautiful hotel high on a hill for the mezcal tasting. The views were stunning The tastings were conducted by a lovely woman who explained the world of Mezcal as we sampled our tasting, it'ss very strong, but I am happy we had this unique experience. The guide was available for any questions or requests. I highly recommend

Unforgettable Day: Beach Mud Massage & Mezcal Tasting

We had an absolutely fantastic experience with Mary Rose! From the relaxing mud massage on one of the most beautiful beaches in Huatulco to the mezcal tasting at a breathtaking location overlooking Tangolunda Bay, every part of the day was memorable. Mary Rose was warm, professional, and made the experience even more special. Easily a 15 out of 10—we highly recommend this to anyone visiting Huatulco. Thank you, Mary Rose!

    Go,Go,Go!

A group of us went to Huatulco for a 40th birthday get away. We went on the Mud, Massage, Mezcal tour on our first day and we were overjoyed that we did. It was such a different experience! The woman who slather you in mud are serious about their trade. We were laughing from start to finish on this experience like we were turning 20 years old not 40. The description of this tour is accurate, but you really have to partake to get the full enjoyment of the mud massage. All you need are the clothes on your back and Next Stop Huatulco handles the rest. We had never even heard of mezcal, but in Oaxaca EVERYONE drinks it. Be forewarned mezcal is extremely strong. We are all pretty much party girls, but mezcal is completely different to any other alcohol we tasted prior this birthday. It is a learning and tasting event. Maryrose (our guide) definitely contributed to the success of our tour. She kindly gave us some great tips and took a few calls! THANK YOU MR!

A different kind of a spa day

At first, I’ll admit, I wasn’t exactly thrilled at the idea. But let me be the first to say—it would've been an absolute shame if I’d missed out on this experience. The mud bath was so unique, so refreshing. The women who provided the mud massages were not only incredibly skilled, but also warm and welcoming. They made sure everyone was comfortable, and it was clear they knew exactly what they were doing. By the end, I left feeling like a completely new person. What really stood out, though, was how Next Stop Huatulco took care of all the little details. They provided towels and a perfect mesh bag for your wet swimwear, which was a lovely touch. The mesh bag wasn’t just practical—it was a thoughtful gift from Maryrose, and we all left with one, which felt like a nice souvenir. The Mezcal tasting was another unexpected highlight. We learned so much about the process, the flavours, and the culture surrounding it. It was an experience that really deepened our appreciation for it. Looking back, I can’t believe I almost skipped this tour for the sake of lounging by the pool. I’m so glad I joined in.

Mud, Massage, Mezcal: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Huatulco.

How much does Mud, Massage, Mezcal cost?

    +

Prices start at $100 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Huatulco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Mud, Massage, Mezcal take?

    +

Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Huatulco is not rushed.

Is Mud, Massage, Mezcal worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 13 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Huatulco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Mud, Massage, Mezcal?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Mud, Massage, Mezcal suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Mud, Massage, Mezcal?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Huatulco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Huatulco and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Mud, Massage, Mezcal start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Huatulco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Huatulco?

    +

On Outty we rank every Huatulco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Huatulco Ocean Eco Adventures, Tour to Copalitilla Magical Waterfalls from Huatulco with admission included, Huatulco: Waterfalls, Zipline & Oaxacan Food. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Huatulco?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Huatulco?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
