    Swayambhunath Temple

Great tour, learned so much! You will not be disappointed if you visit

Response from the operator: Namaste and thanks for your review. Great to hear you learned so much at Swayambhunath. There is a lot more to the Monkey Temple than the monkeys and the views! Please share your Nepal experience with friends and family, we'd love to welcome them here. Cheers, Menno Amazing Kathmandu Tours

    Highly recommend this tour!

We had a wonderful day with Sandip. Our meeting spot was easy and our walk to the temple was really nice. We stopped for a beverage before climbing the stairs and then Sandip gave us a thorough background of the temples and the meanings of many things we had been wondering about. He flexed the tours based on our interests and we ended up learning a lot. He was also very funny and made us feel comfortable the entire day. We highly recommend this tour! Wear good shoes - close to 10,000 steps from the meeting spot to up and down the steps at the temple - and 365 steps to reach the top. The monkeys are also adorable!

Response from the operator: Namaste Mikki and thanks for your review. Sounds like you and Sandip had a fantastic day! We love tours where interests lead the way, with plenty of stories, laughs and, at Swayambhunath, quite a few steps and monkeys. Please share your Nepal experience with friends and family, we'd love to welcome them here. Cheers, Menno Amazing Kathmandu Tours

I had such an amazing day with Sandip!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had such an amazing day with Sandip! From the moment we met, he made me feel welcome and shared so much knowledge about Nepal, Buddhism and the history behind the places we visited. It felt like exploring with a friend rather than being on a tour. Sandip was kind, patient and happy to answer all of my endless questions! 😄 He made sure I experienced the real Kathmandu, and I came away with memories I’ll treasure forever. If you’re visiting Nepal, I can’t recommend Sandip highly enough. Thank you for such a wonderful day. I’ll definitely be booking with you again when I’m back! 🙏🇳🇵✨

Response from the operator: Namaste Jemma and thanks for your review. Exploring Kathmandu with a friend rather than feeling like you're on a tour, that's exactly what we aim for. Sandip will love reading this! We look forward to seeing you again in Nepal. Please share your Nepal experience with friends and family, we'd love to welcome them here. Monkey Temple - Swayambhunath Tour - Private/Small Group: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kathmandu.

How much does Monkey Temple - Swayambhunath Tour - Private/Small Group cost?

    +

Prices start at $15 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kathmandu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Monkey Temple - Swayambhunath Tour - Private/Small Group take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kathmandu is not rushed.

Is Monkey Temple - Swayambhunath Tour - Private/Small Group worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 83 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 77 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kathmandu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Monkey Temple - Swayambhunath Tour - Private/Small Group?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Monkey Temple - Swayambhunath Tour - Private/Small Group suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Monkey Temple - Swayambhunath Tour - Private/Small Group?

    +

Around 27 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kathmandu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kathmandu and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Monkey Temple - Swayambhunath Tour - Private/Small Group start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kathmandu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kathmandu?

    +

On Outty we rank every Kathmandu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour | UNESCO World Heritage sites, Classic Everest Base Camp Trek, Manaslu Circuit Trek. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kathmandu?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kathmandu?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
