What you get

    About this experience

You simply CANNOT miss this! If you & your family are ocean lovers, then this is the day trip from Cabo San Lucas that you would be so sad to miss. During April-June, Baja Sur hosts an incredible mobula ray aggregation. They travel in 'fevers' of hundreds and thousands; from La Paz down the the Pacific Ocean, in summer. La Ventana is the hot spot of mobula activity, and has a secluded charm that you might have seen of Cabo 30 years ago. If we find Mobula Rays, they will be launching themselves high out of the water in an acrobatic display. We will jump in & swim with up to a thousand individuals all cruising around together. Sometimes they are close enough for a photo! But the best bit? It’s possible to also see Orcas, sperm whales, blue whales (many whales, actually!) whalesharks, or swim with wild dolphins. We will picnic at a reef near a sea lion colony. Nature is everywhere! No specific wildlife is guaranteed! But come and enjpy the day with our expert and experienced crew!

    Good company

Diego was amazing to communicate with and helped us find the day with the best conditions during our week stay and we saw so many mobula rays. Maria was our guide and she was wonderful in the water and helped us see the rays. Would recommend!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words! We're delighted Diego's communication was good and he was able to manage the schedule to fit the conditions—it makes all the difference, and we're so glad it paid off with an incredible mobula ray encounter. We'll also be sure to share your lovely comments with Maria; she'll be thrilled to hear she helped make the experience so memorable. It was a pleasure diving with you, and we hope to welcome you back to Cabo again soon!

    Mobulas & Sea Lions!

My friend & I took the La Ventana/Cerralvo Island Mobula Snorkel trip. Cabo Private Guide took care of everything, from pick up to drop off. The trip itself was amazing, we started the morning with breakfast during our trip to the boat. Once aboard Maruja and Martin skillfully helped guide us into the water to observe the mobula ray migration. It was such a lovely experience. I really appreciated the way they encouraged us to observe respectfully & take turns with other tours so as not to overwhelm the wildlife. Our boat captain, David, was also very knowledgeable and amazingly helpful. After several turns with the mobulas and some dolphin spotting, we head to La Reyna to swim a reef inhabited by sea lions as well as tons of beautiful fish. Again Mari & Martin were very attentive of our group, keeping us all together while pointing out wildlife and helping us be respectful of their space. The afternoon wrapped up with a delicious civeché lunch on a very interesting beach. Full & tired, we returned by boat to our patient & attentive driver Marco, to be carried back to reality but not before a final stop for some goodies at an organic market. I would absolutely recommend this tour, these guides and Cabo Private Guide and I will be enjoying other experiences with them :)

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! We’re thrilled you had such a memorable experience with the mobulas, sea lions, and all the special moments throughout the day. We truly appreciate your kind words about our team and our commitment to respectful wildlife encounters. It was a pleasure sharing the beauty of Baja with you, and we look forward to welcoming you back for another adventure soon! 🌊☀️

I swam with sea lions and mobula rays!

I went on the Espiritu Santo Island Tour and had an amazing time. They were patient, very informative, and have a keen eye for spotting sea life. My charter had a bus driver and boat captain who were prompt and nice. Our guides were Mari and Martin who made sure we were comfortable and well feed. We swam with a large school of Mobula rays in the bay. Then we went to La Reina to swim with the sea lions. We saw a ton of fish, an octopus, and a reef so healthy you could hear the clicky clacks. 10/10 recommend. Everyone at the office has been very helpful throughout the whole process.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear you had an amazing time with during your tour with Mari & Martin. Swimming with the Mobula rays and sea lions is truly unforgettable, and we're glad you got to enjoy the incredible marine life and vibrant reef with us. We appreciate your kind words about our office staff as well—they strive to make the whole process smooth and enjoyable. We look forward to welcoming you back for more adventures in the future! Just a quick note for your logbooks, the name of island it's Cerralvo instead of Espiritu Santo.

    Amazing Ocean Safari!

Amazing tour! We saw rays, dolphins, sea lions and blue whales! Highly recommend for anyone who loves the ocean and its creatures! Morgane was an excellent guide and we were well cared for by her and the captain. Don’t miss this experience!

Response from the operator: Hello Rachelle! We are very glad to hear that you had a great time with Morgane and she will be pleased to read your kind words. As you very well explained our safari tours are an excellent experience, but seeing blue whales is something else!! Thank you so much for nice and honest feedback and hope to see you back soon!

    Cabo was awesome!

The tour was amazing. I wish the visibility was better so the video of the rays would have been clearer but that isn't anyone's fault. Ben was our dive master over 3 days and he was amazing. Our favorite trip was to Cabo Pulmo. It was out of this world and Ben's knowledge of the area and the marine life was top notch. I would do it again in a heart beat.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the kind words! We’re thrilled you had such a great time, especially in Cabo Pulmo—it's truly a special place. Ben will be so happy to hear your feedback! We’d love to have you back anytime for another adventure.

Mobula Ray and Ocean Safari Day Trip: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cabo San Lucas.

How much does Mobula Ray and Ocean Safari Day Trip cost?

    +

Prices start at $315 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cabo San Lucas usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Mobula Ray and Ocean Safari Day Trip take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cabo San Lucas is not rushed.

Is Mobula Ray and Ocean Safari Day Trip worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 18 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cabo San Lucas, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Mobula Ray and Ocean Safari Day Trip?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Mobula Ray and Ocean Safari Day Trip suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Mobula Ray and Ocean Safari Day Trip?

    +

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cabo San Lucas can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cabo San Lucas and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Mobula Ray and Ocean Safari Day Trip start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cabo San Lucas within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cabo San Lucas?

    +

On Outty we rank every Cabo San Lucas experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cabo Desert Off-Road & Beach Horseback Combo and Tequila Tasting, Humpback Whale Watching Tour in Cabo San Lucas, Cabo All-Inclusive Private Beach Club with Open Bar and Buffet. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cabo San Lucas?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cabo San Lucas?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
