What you get

    About this experience

A great tour year-round, especially if you're visiting in the winter months! Minneapolis is home to the largest, contiguous skyway system in the world! Originally designed to counter the 1950s post war suburban boom by revitalizing the city's retail core, today the second story walkways connect 80 city blocks and meander more than 9 miles. This is a great way to see the city - inside and out - during cool weather, hot weather, rainy days and the brutally long Minnesota winter, so pretty much year-round! There are so many treasures within downtown's unique architectural landscape, and the skyway system is sometimes the only way to see them. AFTERNOON TOUR ends at the historic Minneapolis Club, not typically open to the public. Choosing Mpls City & Skyway Tours, you are supporting a local, woman-owned small business with a big heart. (Please note, this is a walking tour. We will walk up to two miles, with breaks. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water.)

    We had a wonderful time...

We had a wonderful time on the Skyway Tour! It was fascinating to learn about the history of the skyway system and see how unique each connector is. We especially enjoyed all of the artwork along the route, which made the experience even more interesting. Jessica was an excellent guide—friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging. She shared so many interesting facts and made the tour enjoyable from start to finish. We highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a fun and unique way to explore the city!

Response from the operator: Thank you, two, for being both engaged and engaging, and for sharing some of your own travel stories! Detroit and the Ann Arbor Art Fair are on the top of my list for next summer!

    Great tour of downtown Minneapolis

The Skyway tour was an excellent way to learn about Minneapolis and experience the longest Skyway in the world. Our guide Jessica was very knowledgeable about the past, present and future plans for the downtown region. She changed her tour so that we did not go outside because the air quality was poor. She also accommodated those of us who needed elevators instead of stairs. After the tour she provided a list of other things to see as well as restaurants we might like. I high recommend it. Wear good walking shoes!

Response from the operator: Thank you, Kristina! I appreciate you taking the time to write about your experience. I wish you all the best in your new city. You'll be a Minnesotan in no time. :)

    Wonderful Tour

We enjoyed this tour very much. We were impressed with Jessica's knowledge and found the skyway system to be very interesting. Beautiful buildings too!

Response from the operator: Thank you, Janet! It was a pleasure to meet all of you and I so enjoyed our conversations in the skyway. I hope you enjoyed the last bit of your visit and are returning home with fond memories of Mpls! :)

    Fabulous tour!

Using the Skyway was intimidating to me before this tour! But Jessica made it totally doable for this senior woman! She used lovely old photos to place each stop on the tour in its historical context. She really does make a tour feel like you’re hanging out with a friend who just happens to be very knowledgeable about the city she loves!

Response from the operator: It was so lovely to meet you and to be a part of the connections you are making in the city! I'm so glad you are taking the time to really get to know Minneapolis and I hope you will get to call it home in the near future! Thank you!

Minneapolis Skyway Walking Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Minneapolis-Saint Paul.

How much does Minneapolis Skyway Walking Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $79 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Minneapolis-Saint Paul usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Minneapolis Skyway Walking Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 2.3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Minneapolis-Saint Paul is not rushed.

Is Minneapolis Skyway Walking Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 79 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 59 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Minneapolis-Saint Paul, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Minneapolis Skyway Walking Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Minneapolis Skyway Walking Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Minneapolis Skyway Walking Tour?

    +

Around 21 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Minneapolis-Saint Paul can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Minneapolis-Saint Paul and add a light layer if any part of the 2.3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Minneapolis Skyway Walking Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Minneapolis-Saint Paul within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Minneapolis-Saint Paul?

    +

The Twin Cities cover Mississippi mill district history, chain of lakes bike and paddle tours, Mall of America trips, brewery crawls in Northeast and winter ice experiences. Seasonal swing is extreme, so honest weather guidance matters. On Outty we rank every Minneapolis-Saint Paul experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Escape Game: Epic 60-Minute Adventures at the Mall of America, Narrated Scenic Tour on the Minneapolis Trolley, St. Paul Historic Cave Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Minneapolis-Saint Paul?

    +

June to September, with winter activities from December to February. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Minneapolis-Saint Paul?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
