About this experience
This adventure begins with a steep climb to the Largo do Miranda viewpoint, from where, during a brief stop, you can see the entire city of Funchal. We continue our expedition along a road lined with exotic forest, where acacias and eucalyptus trees predominate. At a certain point in our adventure, we suggest a short walk of about 2 km, along an irrigation canal: the levada of Serra do Faial. This levada, built at the beginning of the 20th century, was for much of that century the main water supply route for the southeast coast of the island and is today one of the most accessible levadas. The adventure continues aboard our Land Rover along a winding road that crosses the rural landscape, between the villages of Camacha and Santo da Serra. At a certain point, the mechanical capabilities of the vehicle, as well as the knowledge and experience of your guide, will be put to the test. Returning we pass through Machico, the place where the Portuguese first set foot some 600 years ago.

The best tour in Europe.
My wife and I were on this tour today, we have been on many Jeep tours around Europe, this was by far the best. Our guide Miguel was very good, knowledgeable and funny. We saw more on this half day tour than we've seen on many full day tours.

Excellent Jeep Safari
Every time I visit Madeira, I go on a different tour with this company, and they never disappoint. Deano our driver was great. Superb driving skills, very knowledgeable, and he looked after us well. The off road section was fab. Highly recommended.

Half day off-road east island tour
This was a great trip. We saw loads. Stunning views, a 30 minute walk along the levada through the forest, the off road landrover tour was great fun. Our driver, Jose was very knowledgeable, chatty and a great guide.

A must do trip
We had a fabulous day out with Victor. We were a full Land Rover, 2 Portuguese, 4 British and 2 Chinese, and we just had a ball. Victor showed off the island perfectly. He was informative, fun, and very considerate. Our 2 elder members did not do the 2 walks, and those that did thoroughly enjoyed them 30 mins each and very easy. The lunch was OK, but very good value and in a lovely setting. Despite ages ranging from 80s to 20s, and 50% being English 2nd language speakers, everyone enjoyed it. Thanks so much!!
Response from the operator: Hello, thank you for the feedback we will pass the word to Victor. Thank you and see you soon in sunny Madeira

Why this scores 65
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Mini -Combo East Challenge (Jeep & Levada Walk)- Shared Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Funchal.
How much does Mini -Combo East Challenge (Jeep & Levada Walk)- Shared Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $56 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Funchal usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Mini -Combo East Challenge (Jeep & Levada Walk)- Shared Tour take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Funchal is not rushed.
Is Mini -Combo East Challenge (Jeep & Levada Walk)- Shared Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Funchal, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Mini -Combo East Challenge (Jeep & Levada Walk)- Shared Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Mini -Combo East Challenge (Jeep & Levada Walk)- Shared Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Mini -Combo East Challenge (Jeep & Levada Walk)- Shared Tour?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Funchal can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Funchal and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Mini -Combo East Challenge (Jeep & Levada Walk)- Shared Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Funchal within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Funchal?
+
On Outty we rank every Funchal experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jeep Tour Amazing West to Natural Pools -Full-Day, Porto Moniz, Seixal, Fanal Forest, Cliff Skywalk in Open Roof 4X4, West Tour-Fanal Forest & Porto Moniz Natural Pools Small Groups. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Funchal?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Funchal?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
