Great Ride with Rosbert!
Really enjoyed our ride with Rosbert! He did well to match the ride to our experience level and we appreciated the opportunity to see a completely different part of Madeira with him. He was extremely knowledgeable about the island - a great tour guide and biking lead!

Great Ride, Great Guide and Fun Challenge!
We had a great time on this activity! Rosbert was a great guide, very friendly and he even got in touch with us to move our activity day as the weather on our original day was very wet. The new day we arranged was much better weather making it a much better ride so thank you for that! The group was at different skill levels and Rosbert was able to give us different routes and challenges to suit us while still keeping us together as a group. He also took great photos of us during the ride and shared lots of knowledge about the island. We would highly recommend this activity to anyone. Thank you Rosbert

Personal mountain bike experience
Rosbert was a great guide and tailored the route and speed to our capabilities. It was my 66 year old father's first time on a mountain bike and on single track trails. Rosbert made sure that we were comfortable with the level of difficulty and he seemed to always have a backup plan if we weren't. Cycling along the levadas down from Poiso was beautiful. We weren't expecting a history lesson of Madeira and Portugal, but got a great lesson from our guide Rosbert who was a great ambassador for his island and country. Our lunch stop at a traditional snack bar had some of the best homemade and wholesome food that we've had on the island... And it didn't break the bank! Bonus... We were able to end the tour directly at our Airbnb. Thanks Rosbert for the personal experience and making it work!

MTB tailored to your cycling experience in a wonderful location
Fantastic way to experience a taster for mountain biking. Although advertised as a “beginner’s” tour you do require some basic cycling fitness and bike handling skills to comfortably enjoy the half day. Rosbert and his team were really friendly and helpful and tailored the cycle to our abilities. Day started with a pick up from hotel just after 9:30, with a 20-30 minute drive uphill and inland. Great scenery. Total of around 16 miles cycling taking in downhill trails in fields, roads and Levada pathways. Stopped off for lunch which in itself was an interesting and enjoyable experience (local cafe bar restaurant full of locals, bereft of tourists). At end of cycle picked up some more experienced mountain cyclists on a separate cycle with the same company, taking them back to the top for their final run of the day, and we were taken back down to our hotel stopping off at some quite stunning viewpoints en route, finishing the day between 4 and 5 pm. Would highly recommend if you already cycle and wish to have a go at mountain biking at a level tuned to your experience. Great value. Always felt we were in safe, competent hands. Highly recommended 😊

Why this scores 60
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Mountain Biking Tour - Beginner Easy: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Funchal.
How much does Mountain Biking Tour - Beginner Easy cost?
+
Prices start at $55 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Funchal usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Mountain Biking Tour - Beginner Easy take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Funchal is not rushed.
Is Mountain Biking Tour - Beginner Easy worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 19 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Funchal, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Mountain Biking Tour - Beginner Easy?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Mountain Biking Tour - Beginner Easy suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Mountain Biking Tour - Beginner Easy?
+
Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Funchal can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Funchal and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Mountain Biking Tour - Beginner Easy start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Funchal within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Funchal?
+
On Outty we rank every Funchal experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jeep Tour Amazing West to Natural Pools -Full-Day, Porto Moniz, Seixal, Fanal Forest, Cliff Skywalk in Open Roof 4X4, West Tour-Fanal Forest & Porto Moniz Natural Pools Small Groups. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Funchal?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Funchal?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
