Great family fun
This was so much fun! Highly recommend for family fun. The kids loved the areas with small rapids. Our guide was great and let our kids row for a few minutes.

Disappointing on every level
This was pretty disappointing. The glacier aspect of the tour was way oversold in the tour description which says it is "along Mendenhall Glacier" and "around the foot of the glacier". In truth, when you arrive at the lake to gear up and board the rafts, the glacier can be seen from about two miles away and that's as close as you'll be getting as the tour immediately turns away from it to float down the river. The "gorgeous mountain scenery" was a bit of a stretch too, as the river runs behind a suburban housing development so one bank of the river is just a view of the fence line and a barrier intended to protect the houses from flooding. The other side is more or less wild but not very scenic. As for the whitewater adventure portion, there were about three spots where it got slightly bumpy for a few seconds and we got a little splash, comparable to an amusement park log ride. Maybe that was a thrilling experience for some people, but IMO it wasn't worth the effort of putting on the gear. The Alaskan-style snacks amounted to a pretty standard cheese/crackers/veggies/sliced meats platter though there was a dip that I think had some smoked salmon in it so - Alaskan-style, I guess. I booked this partly because it was a little more reasonably priced than some of the other tours but also because it seemed more active than just riding in a van to go look at things. So I could have been satisfied if it had been dull but we'd really been to the glacier, or if it had been fun but we didn't get much glacier, but it didn't deliver on either and I feel like I wasted my money and my one time being in Juneau. The only thing saving this from being one-star is the guides who were all friendly and helpful and hopefully not too embarrassed about being part of this extremely mid experience.

Gorgeous and fun!
Such a fantastic experience, fun AND beautiful! Dalton was top notch, super chill about the rapids, but superb stand-up comedy at the ready. Putting that theater degree to good use. Ask for Dalton!

Great family adventure
Great time on the rafting trip. Our guide, Jaret, was skilled, knowledgeable, and a lot of fun. He worked really hard to paddle and guide the raft! We appreciated the water gear to stay dry. Thanks for a great memory of Mendenhall glacier.

Why this scores 58
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Mendenhall Glacier White-Water Rafting & Scenic Float Adventure: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Juneau.
How much does Mendenhall Glacier White-Water Rafting & Scenic Float Adventure cost?
+
Prices start at $209 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Juneau usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Mendenhall Glacier White-Water Rafting & Scenic Float Adventure take?
+
Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Juneau is not rushed.
Is Mendenhall Glacier White-Water Rafting & Scenic Float Adventure worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 347 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable family friendly in Juneau, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Mendenhall Glacier White-Water Rafting & Scenic Float Adventure?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Mendenhall Glacier White-Water Rafting & Scenic Float Adventure suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Mendenhall Glacier White-Water Rafting & Scenic Float Adventure?
+
Around 121 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Juneau can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Juneau and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Mendenhall Glacier White-Water Rafting & Scenic Float Adventure start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Juneau within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Juneau?
+
Juneau runs Mendenhall Glacier trips, whale watching in Auke Bay, helicopter glacier landings with dog sledding, and rainforest hikes. Most tours are timed to cruise ship windows, so we weight clear duration and pickup detail. On Outty we rank every Juneau experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Juneau Wildlife Whale Watching, Juneau Wildlife Whale Watching & Mendenhall Glacier, Mendenhall Glacier Lake Canoe Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Juneau?
+
May to September, peaking for humpbacks in June and July. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Juneau?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
