Great experience
From the pickup on the to the drop off point, this was a magical experience. I stayed in town and wanted to do something different. This was so much fun. I was alone and it was a fun way to see the glacier up close. Mary our bus driver was beyond amazing and deserves a raise, she was the best bus driver ever. Mary gave all sorts of fun facts about the town, flora and fauna. She also took us on a different route home to see different parts of the town. The tour itself was so much fun. I didn’t think it was a big workout, I felt fine rowing the e tire time. The glacier was so so beautiful up close. I loved it so much. We also stopped at Nugget falls on the way back and had some awesome snacks (cheese, salami, celery). Out tour guide, Oliver, was knowledgeable on the geology and plants of the area and answered everyone’s questions. We even got a rainbow at the end! Great job :)

This is a beautiful way...
This is a beautiful way to experience an up-close view of the Mendenhall glacier. My 9 year old and I had so much fun on the canoe ride. Nuggets Falls was amazing, too. We really enjoyed our time at the waterfall. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable and this was the perfect way to spend an afternoon in Juneau. We would definitely recommend going on this adventure!

Fun day on the canoe
Great experience to see glacier up close and work off some of that cruise food! Nice knowledge guides and perfect timing. Highly recommend for kids too.

Great Family Experience
Canoe trip gave great views of the glacier and the stop by the waterfall was a great spot to stretch out and take some amazing pictures. We traveled with our 10 year old daughter and she had fun as well. I wasn't all too strenuous and if you have a kid who doesn't necessarily want to paddle, the canoe is large enough to allow them to sit between the two adults who can do the "work"!

Why this scores 58
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Mendenhall Lake Canoe Adventure: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Juneau.
How much does Mendenhall Lake Canoe Adventure cost?
+
Prices start at $259 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Juneau usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Mendenhall Lake Canoe Adventure take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Juneau is not rushed.
Is Mendenhall Lake Canoe Adventure worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 210 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Juneau, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Mendenhall Lake Canoe Adventure?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Mendenhall Lake Canoe Adventure suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Mendenhall Lake Canoe Adventure?
+
Around 74 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Juneau can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Juneau and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Mendenhall Lake Canoe Adventure start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Juneau within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Juneau?
+
Juneau runs Mendenhall Glacier trips, whale watching in Auke Bay, helicopter glacier landings with dog sledding, and rainforest hikes. Most tours are timed to cruise ship windows, so we weight clear duration and pickup detail. On Outty we rank every Juneau experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Juneau Wildlife Whale Watching, Juneau Wildlife Whale Watching & Mendenhall Glacier, Whales and Wilderness Exploration. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Juneau?
+
May to September, peaking for humpbacks in June and July. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Juneau?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
