Trust the guide and take Transfagarasan road

We really liked this tour. Our guide was Serban and he suggested a change which was great: crossing the Carpathians using the Transfagarasan road. The landscape was beautiful, we saw the Balea glacier lake and even several bears!

    Way too expensive

500 euros per persons for what it offers is way too expensive. A room per person for the night in a 3 star would be around 250, 300 lei per night, the transport for two days would be a maximum of 100 lei per day, breakfast somewhere close to 80 lei for two days … so basically their expenses are not even close to half of the price per person… sorry but this feels like taking advantage of wealthy people for me

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion! However, we would like to clarify that we have no record of a reservation under your name for our Medieval Transylvania tour. The tour actually lasts 3 full days and 2 nights, not 2 days. The pricing of our tours reflects significantly more than basic accommodation and fuel costs. It includes professional guiding services, itinerary planning, operational logistics, taxes, insurance, and carefully selected accommodations with breakfast included, based on current prices that meet our quality standards. Regarding transportation, if you carefully check the itinerary and the distances covered, you will see that 100 lei per day is far from sufficient. For example, on the first day we travel from Bucharest → Curtea de Argeș → Cozia → Sibiu, which is a substantial distance and cannot be covered for the amount suggested. We always strive to be transparent about what is included in our tours, and all details are clearly listed on our website. We truly value feedback from our actual guests, as it helps us continuously improve and maintain high service standards. We look forward to welcoming you to Romania for an experience with our team!

Transylvania - so much more than just Dracula

I've recently returned from 3-day Medieval Transylvania tour with a group of friends. The tour was excellent, so much packed into each day, but flexible enough to allow us to make the most of each day and included a drive over the breath taking Transfargarasan highway and a stop in the snow on top of the Carpathian mountains. The hotels were comfortable and in good locations, especially the Bella Muzica in Brasov which is right on the town square. Our guide Serban was extremely knowledgeable and clearly loved Romania. I'd recommend this tour to anyone interested in Romanian or Transylvanian history, which we learned is far more interesting than just Vlad the Impaler and Dracula.

Response from the operator: We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the tour and that you were able to experience so much in just three days. Thank you also for your kind words about our guide, Șerban — his passion and knowledge truly make the experience special. We truly appreciate your recommendation and look forward to welcoming you back to Romania again soon!

Excellent 3 Day Tour of Transylvania with Serbanriga

I booked Travel Maker for a group of 7 for the 3-day Medieval Tour of Transylvania. From the beginning, the process to book was very easy with quick responses to emails. The organisation went very smoothly, and we were picked up by Serbanriga on our first day in a spotless minivan. Serban's English is excellent, and his sense of humour kept us entertained the whole way through. The accommodation at each stop was lovely and Serbanriga recommended restaurants to us which didn't disappoint. He even joined us on a few fun evenings out which was lovely. Serbanriga was very flexible on the itinerary, suggesting stops we may be interested in and giving us the choice to stop there or not. I really cannot fault this tour, we loved it and it was so interesting and easy. Travel Maker and Serbanriga did all the work for us, all we had to do was enjoy. Definitely recommended, book with confidence.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for all the kind words and for taking the time to share such a detailed review! We’re truly happy to hear that Șerban was able to create such a wonderful experience for your group and that the tour met your expectations from start to finish. It means a lot to us to know that you felt relaxed, well taken care of, and able to simply enjoy Romania. We would be delighted to welcome you back for more special experiences in the future!

Medieval Transylvania with a Shared 3 Day Tour from Bucharest: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bucharest.

How much does Medieval Transylvania with a Shared 3 Day Tour from Bucharest cost?

    +

Prices start at $591 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bucharest usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Medieval Transylvania with a Shared 3 Day Tour from Bucharest take?

    +

Plan for about 72 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bucharest is not rushed.

Is Medieval Transylvania with a Shared 3 Day Tour from Bucharest worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 13 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Bucharest, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Medieval Transylvania with a Shared 3 Day Tour from Bucharest?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Medieval Transylvania with a Shared 3 Day Tour from Bucharest suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 72-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Medieval Transylvania with a Shared 3 Day Tour from Bucharest?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bucharest can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bucharest and add a light layer if any part of the 72-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Medieval Transylvania with a Shared 3 Day Tour from Bucharest start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bucharest within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Bucharest?

    +

On Outty we rank every Bucharest experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Real tour of Communism, Bucharest Highlights Walking Tour, Top Gear Road, Small-group max 7 pax with Pick-up, Transfăgărăşan. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Bucharest?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Bucharest?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
