What you'll see and do
Join us for a one of a kind experience. Paddle out over the Olowalu reef in a clear kayak to watch the sunset behind the beautiful island of Lanai. Then look through your kayak as we explore Hawaii's oldest reef system (home to the fourth largest population of manta rays) to see the transition of our day and night reef life. After the sun has set, turn on your high powered lights in your stable, pontooned kayaks and see the reef awaken below you. Watch as it becomes bejeweled with the sparkle of rubies as your light reflects from the eyes of millions of shrimp living in the reef. After anchoring, we drop lights to draw in the plankton that Manta Rays feed on in hopes that they stop by to dine below our kayaks. The plankton also brings in an array of marine life including squid, shrimp, fish, nudibranchs, eels, and our night time octopus. The lights in your kayak even attract hundreds of Jelly fish that will swim beneath you while you watch comfortably out of harms way. No getting wet or cold while you enjoy viewing the life on the reef at night!!! No wetsuit necessary! Stargaze as you hear stories about the constellations, old Maui, the mythology of the Hawaiian Gods and more.

Great time with great people!
We couldn’t see much for critters because a swell had just come in. But being on the ocean at night on a full moon was awesome! Jason and Gabriel were good fun and made our trip a blast.
Response from the operator: Thank you Daniel for the 5 star review. We are so glad to hear Jason and Gabriel made your experience a memorable one! How fortunate you got to experience the full moon out there on the water. There is nothing quite like it! We hope to see you again on your next trip to Maui!

Friendly, kind, & knowledgeable Family
A calming enlightening evening. Navigating about the coral reef with the aid of the boat lights was a lot of fun. Gabriel and Jason were great! The large canoe like kayaks with the outrigger floats were fun for a first timer like me. Probably not a great outing for younger kids. (My mistake. )I’d say better suited for young adults and couples. However the guides were very accommodating in keeping the children engaged.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for leaving us a 5 star review. It makes all the difference for a small family business. We are so happy you had fun on our Sunset/Glow Tour. It is a really unique experience to see the reef at night compared to the day. Plus the added bonus of the beautiful sunset and breathtaking stargazing. The clear kayaks are perfect for beginners because the pontoon attachments make the kayak very stable and almost impossible to tip. It can get a little late for small children who have already had a long day since it does not end until 9:15-9:45pm. I am glad to hear the guides were able to keep the children engaged. We hope to see you on your next visit. Maybe try our Unlimited Clear Kayak and Snorkeling Tour so you can explore the reef during the day. Don't forget to reach out for your Ohana discount.

Unique way to experience the ocean at night
Fascinating and educational tour provided by a great family business! We were provided with everything we needed and learned a lot about the coral reef and life in the ocean. We first saw a beautiful sunset as we kayaked around the area, learned about the reef and listened to a few funny stories from Jason the owner. We were able to explore the area with our lit boats which allowed us to see the coral reef clearly. They kept an eye on everyone to ensure that everyone was having a good time and that nobody was alone too far away from the others. Jason then dove in and found a few urchins which he passed around to the group so that we could each feel them. Gabriel his son pointed out several jellyfish which were hard to spot otherwise since they’re clear. The night was capped with fresh pineapple on the beach. The entire family worked hard to ensure that everyone had a great time and clearly enjoyed working together and talking to everyone. Id totally recommend this tour to anyone who wants a unique experience!
Response from the operator: Thank you Melody for this amazing 5 star review. We really appreciate the time you took to write out such a thoughtful explanation of your experience. Seeing the reef at night is truly a unique opportunity. We are so glad to hear you felt safe since you attended the tour on your own. We look forward to seeing you again in the future.

Best excursion we have ever been on!
Gabriel's Ohana is hands down the best tourism company that we have ever had the pleasure of spending our vacation with, and we have traveled a lot. The experience was so unique in so many ways that it is hard to describe our favorite part. From watching the powerful red sunset from the ocean on their very stable kayaks to paddling over an ancient reef full of life, the sensory overload was intense. We stargazed and watched as box jellyfish danced around our clear kayak, attracted to the many lights around the boat. We watched two squid swim under our kayaks even. Jason dove down into the dark waters to find urchins for us to see and touch up close. He told us many interesting stories about the reef and islands. There was never a dull moment. Even our teenagers raved about it for days. They said it was easily their favorite part of our vacation. They loved the glow jewelry and saw a turtle asleep on top of the reef! They use the same lights to draw in the Manta Rays as the companies on the big island do. It is mesmerizing. The best part was we never got wet or cold while we were on the water and never felt rushed. You can tell this is a family owned company, they pour their heart and souls into every aspect of the trip right down to the delicious, fresh cut pineapple and more socializing on the return to the beach. We hated pulling away. I think we could have easily spent the whole night talking with their family and never got bored for a minute. This is beyond anything we have experienced before, worth every penny and then some. Their hospitality is A+++! If you are looking for something to do at night that is special for your whole family from kids to grandparents, I highly recommend booking this tour! You will be thankful you did!! Aloha and best wishes! Thank you again, Jason, Gabriel, and Sabrina!! You made a memory we will cherish always!
Response from the operator: WOW!!! Thank you so much! What a "glowing" review. LOL. The night tour is very unique. So glad you had such a wonderful experience. Hope we see you again soon.

Why this scores 62
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Maui: Sunset/Glow Clear Kayak Tour in Olowalu: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Maui.
How much does Maui: Sunset/Glow Clear Kayak Tour in Olowalu cost?
+
Prices start at $239 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Maui usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Maui: Sunset/Glow Clear Kayak Tour in Olowalu take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Maui is not rushed.
Is Maui: Sunset/Glow Clear Kayak Tour in Olowalu worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Maui, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Maui: Sunset/Glow Clear Kayak Tour in Olowalu?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Maui: Sunset/Glow Clear Kayak Tour in Olowalu suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Maui: Sunset/Glow Clear Kayak Tour in Olowalu?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Maui can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Maui and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Maui: Sunset/Glow Clear Kayak Tour in Olowalu start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Maui within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Maui?
+
Maui's three signature days are the Hana road, the Haleakala summit sunrise and the Molokini snorkel sail, and all three are logistics problems as much as experiences. Sunrise summit entry is permit-controlled, Hana is a ten-hour driving day, and Molokini boats vary wildly in size. Our ranking rewards operators who handle permits and keep boat capacity low. On Outty we rank every Maui experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Molokini Crater + South Maui Coast Adventure from Kihei, Maui, Maui: VIP Private Road to Hana Tour with Pick Up, West Maui Snorkeling Experience by Boat from Ka'anapali. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Maui?
+
April to May and September to October. Whale season runs December to April. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Maui?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
