Masai Mara safari by Denki Travel Review

Denki Travel organized a perfect tour for us. They were transparent in their pricing and whatever they promised, they delivered! The driver guide was professional and fluent in English. We were able to see all the big five among other animals. I would always use Denki Travel.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much Ruth. Quality service is always our signature.

Think twice before booking with Denki

The worst experience of Mara. We were in a shared group & our SO CALLED tour guide was pathetic. He dint explain to us anything & was rude in addressing us.

Response from the operator: Dear Hussein, we regret the experience during your safari. As advised earlier, group joining safari is not advisable more so when looking for a custom and personalized experience. You decided, to choose a joining safari regardless our advise. Anyway, we are sorry for the experience and as I told you, the guide was sourced by the other company whose clients you joined hence we had little control over that. Kindly always heed to the advise of the travel agent to avoid inconveniences. Thanks

Self driving safari in the Masai Mara

Another amazing 4 nights/5 days safari in the Mara staying in an amazing location at the luxury Mara Bush camp conveniently situated next to Ol-Kiombo airstrip. The food accommodation and service was outstanding and nothing was a problem for Nelson the camp manager. We rented a 4WD Toyota Landcruiser from Sunworld and they delivered the car to Ol-Kiombo airstrip allowing us to fly in from Nairobi and not waste time. The car was in great condition and they provided backup from Mara Bush camp in the event of an emergency like getting stuck in the mud as it was raining. We learnt that Gabriel’s Nowak who is the CEO of Sunworld is contributing positively towards the conservation of the Mara ecosystem which is threatened by decline due to numerous factors. They provide great flexibility and have very knowledgeable driver guides for those who don’t want to self drive at a very reasonable price. As a result I have returned every year for the last 5 years because the Mara is truly one of the best game reserves in Africa in terms of sheer concentration of animals although this is gradually dwindling over the years due to human encroachment. My heart goes out to all those trying to preserve this garden of Eden of Africa and sincere thanks to Sunworld.

Masai Mara safari: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Nairobi.

How much does Masai Mara safari cost?

    +

Prices start at $1,150 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Nairobi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Masai Mara safari take?

    +

Plan for about 72 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Nairobi is not rushed.

Is Masai Mara safari worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Nairobi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Masai Mara safari?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Masai Mara safari suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 72-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Masai Mara safari?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Nairobi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Nairobi and add a light layer if any part of the 72-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Masai Mara safari start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Nairobi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Nairobi?

    +

On Outty we rank every Nairobi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Wild 5-Day Safari: Magical Mara, Nakuru Wonders & Hell's Gate, 2 Days Amboseli Safari using a 4x4 Landcruiser jeep(with options), Kibera Slum Tour with Lucas. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Nairobi?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Nairobi?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

What is included in Masai Mara safari?

    +

Included: Private transportation; Lunch; Dinner; Breakfast; and Park entry fee and taxes. Not included: Optional activities such as hot air balloon and visit to Masai village; Things of personal use; and Nairobi accommodation. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.

Does Masai Mara safari include hotel pickup?

    +

Yes, pickup is offered for every traveler from 11 listed pickup locations in and around Nairobi. Be ready about 30 minutes before the start time. You can also enter a custom pickup address when booking.

What languages is Masai Mara safari offered in?

    +

It runs in English. Pick your language when choosing a date and time, as not every departure runs in every language.

Will I get instant confirmation and a mobile ticket for Masai Mara safari?

    +

Confirmation is sent by the operator after booking, usually within 48 hours; if it is not confirmed you are not charged. Mobile tickets are accepted, so you can show the voucher on your phone.

Is Masai Mara safari wheelchair or stroller accessible?

    +

The operator notes: Infants are required to sit on an adult’s lap; and Specialized infant seats are available. If accessibility is critical, contact the operator after booking to confirm arrangements for your date.

    +
