    A wonderful tour guide!

We had an amazing experience with Richard. From the moment we met him, we hit it off and he was the perfect guide! He knew exactly what we wanted to see and made it fun which was important to our group. He’s full of interesting information and sprinkles in plenty of fun facts. His knowledge of food and chocolate is an extra bonus! We plan to book him again next time we travel to Paris!!

    Fantastic as always!!!!!

I have taken several tours with Richard on previous trips to Paris, both by myself and with my daughter. This time my husband and three children accompanied me to Paris and we took a family tour of the Marais with Richard. It was fantastic as always ! Richard is high energy, fun, fascinating , and he was able to keep our three (jet lagged) teenagers engaged and interested-which is not an easy task. We toured around the Marias Neighborhood. Richard pointed out architectural details, special boulangeries, famous cafés and restaurants, private gardens, and unique boutiques. He has wonderful stories to tell and he pointed out lots of hidden streets, gorgeous Parisian doors, blooming window boxes on beautiful Haussman buildings, while always providing historical facts and insider tidbits. It adds so much to walk around the Marais with Richard. He knows so much about Paris, and specifically the Marais neighborhood. Touring with Richard is truly touring with a local, while benefiting so much from all of his insider knowledge. Richard also shares his knowledge of the best Parisian restaurants and art exhibits to see at any given time. He also takes fantastic photos which is a definite bonus. Taking a tour with Richard is a must if you are in Paris. Don’t miss out!!!

Dreamy Marais Paris Tour -5 stars

Dreamy Marais Paris Tour - 5 stars I just got back to NY from some days in Paris and managed to score a fab tour of the Marais with Richard from Eye Prefer Paris Tours. He offered me a private tour, and I felt like stepping into the past while glimpsing the unfolding future. The Marais is studded with instant-postcard buildings and alleyways;, and 14th-century glorious statues and Richard was full of tidbits about them. He showed me the beautiful, hidden, inner courtyard of a former private palace, which I'd never have found myself, and shared a funny, true story about the owner and her affair with a younger man. Very Marie Antoinette, haha. We stopped by rows of cool, pop-up fashion and vintage clothing boutiques on Rue Charlot and other side streets, plus a stop at the Marche Rouge, a buzzy food court with amazing Moroccan food. He knows all the hot spots. I am a coffee fiend and he didn't disappoint. My favorite part of the tour was a stop for a delish for coffee and the best eclair I've ever eaten at an award-winning bakery/cafe, where I asked about how he’d decided to decamp to Paris and how he’d launched a tour business in a tourist-saturated city. I was very inspired by his interest in French history and curiosity and passion for Paris. Next time I go to Paris, I hope to join him on tours of other secret corners of the city, including Saint Germain, and his Montmartre tour. Let us eat cake!

A Great Introduction to the Marais

We spent a morning in the Marais with Richard at the very beginning of a wonderful 3.5 weeks in Paris. Richard did a great job of explaining the history of the Marais district while exposing us to some of the unique parks, restaurants, and shops in this part of Paris. One of the highlights was a visit to Au Petit Versailles du Marais for a hot chocolate and a pastry. We returned over a dozen times during our stay to get a regular supply of baguettes! Richard was also super-helpful following our tour if we needed advice (via email) on something specific we were looking for in the area.

Marais Tour With a Local: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Paris.

How much does Marais Tour With a Local cost?

    +

Prices start at $66 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Paris usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Marais Tour With a Local take?

    +

Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Paris is not rushed.

Is Marais Tour With a Local worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 85 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 300 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Paris, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Marais Tour With a Local?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Marais Tour With a Local suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Marais Tour With a Local?

    +

Around 105 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Paris can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Paris and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Marais Tour With a Local start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Paris within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Paris?

    +

Paris rewards travelers who book ahead. The headline museums sell timed entry weeks out, the best food walks cap at eight people, and the Seine cruises that are worth doing are the ones that leave after sunset. Everything below is scored by the Outty Ranking so you can tell a genuine local favorite from a coach-tour filler in a single glance. On Outty we rank every Paris experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Louvre Museum Essential Guided Tour Semi Private 6 GUESTS MAX, Louvre Museum Premium Guided Tour 6 GUESTS MAX Entry Included, Paris City Center Free Walking Tour (Tip-Based). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Paris?

    +

April to June and September to October, when queues thin out and terraces stay open late. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Paris?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
