About this experience
Paddle near islands to see the nesting grounds of sea birds. Paddling a kayak on the open ocean can be an exciting way to experience Costa Rica’s marine and coastal wonders. Sea kayaking is much easier than river kayaking, and most trips can be done by people who have never tried the sport before. A Sea Kayaking tour is an opportunity to get a close look at the myriad of life below and above the ocean’s surface, from flying fish and sea turtles to frigate birds and pelicans. Explore some hard to reach offshore islands and coastal estuaries. Includes meals, bilingual guides, and A/C transportation to and from hotels or houses in Manuel Antonio or Quepos. Single or double kayaks are available.

AM Kayak
It is a bit intense, my 12 year old twins were exhausting halfway back to the starting point. I was struggling through most of it. The guide was very good and adapted to all of us despite our different levels of skill and strength. I would wear water shoes and bring a dry pack. A hardy lunch is provided at the end as well as a snack at the rocky beach.

Excellent!
Excellent!! We loved our kayaking experience with Jesus! He was funny, knowledgeable, able to be helpful to all four of the guests. This was the best excursion of our trip. The water was beautiful so kayaking and snorkeling was easy and fun. Thank you so much!

Wonderful!
Highly recommend this tour! Our guide Franklin was amazing. He was so knowledgeable, funny and kind and he even added an extra stop at the end of our trip to visit the local farmers market. He kept telling us that this was his hobby more than it was his job, and that was evident throughout the entire experience. It was an hour paddle to a quiet little beach and then an hour paddle back. My husband and I kayak often in rivers but had not kayaked in the ocean before. It was much easier than expected and certainly will be an activity we’ll book on future trips. 10/10 recommend - Thank you Franklin and Jordan for an incredible experience!

Why this scores 69
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Manuel Antonio Ocean Kayaking: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Quepos.
How much does Manuel Antonio Ocean Kayaking cost?
+
Prices start at $78 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Quepos usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Manuel Antonio Ocean Kayaking take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Quepos is not rushed.
Is Manuel Antonio Ocean Kayaking worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 24 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Quepos, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Manuel Antonio Ocean Kayaking?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Manuel Antonio Ocean Kayaking suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 6. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 4-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Manuel Antonio Ocean Kayaking?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Quepos can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Quepos and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Manuel Antonio Ocean Kayaking start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Quepos within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Quepos?
+
On Outty we rank every Quepos experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Whitewater Rafting Savegre Class II-III plus Waterfall Manuel Antonio, Manuel Antonio Canopy Tour - Longest Twin Zip Line in Central America, Waterfall Ziplining & Canyoning. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Quepos?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Quepos?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
