Great itinerary & driver a pity the guide wasn’t up to scratch!

It was supposed to be a 13 day tour , essentially was 11 days. Tour guide terrible an insta blogger more interested in her own trip & tips. We only went to places she got kickbacks, no free time for our own exploration. The bones of trip good, fabulous driver & comfortable mini bus. Cost of extras astronomical over double if booked ourselves. Tour guide English hard to understand. No water provided on walks outdoors in hot sun. No warning about level of walks as all tourists over 70 yrs. Gulet boats dirty in cabins & boring over 3 days. All could have been done in 1 day as new rule charging boats to go in coves. But alternatives should have been organised. A shame as itinerary great. Accommodation was mostly good except for the large hotels with feeding on mass.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed the itinerary overall, appreciated our driver, and found most of the accommodation comfortable. At the same time, we're sorry that some aspects of the tour did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify a few points, as this information may also be helpful for future travellers considering this tour. The tour you booked is advertised as a 12-night itinerary, consisting of 8 days of escorted land touring, 3 days on a gulet cruise, plus arrival and departure days. As guests arrive and depart on different international flights, the first and last days are reserved for airport transfers rather than sightseeing. This is clearly outlined on our website, in the detailed itinerary, our confirmation email, and the pre-departure travel documents provided before departure. The optional tours and their prices are also published in advance, both on the tour page under the Tour Notes section and in the pre-departure information sent with every booking. Participation is entirely optional, allowing guests to choose whether they would like to join or spend their free time differently. The 3-day gulet cruise is another key feature of this itinerary and is clearly described before booking. We appreciate that this style of travel is not for everyone. While many guests enjoy spending several days cruising and swimming along the coast, others may prefer a land-only itinerary, which is why we also offer tours without a gulet cruise. Regarding free time, this itinerary is designed to cover a large part of Türkiye within a limited timeframe. As shown in the published itinerary before booking, there is naturally limited independent sightseeing time due to the distances travelled and the number of included sites. Likewise, the scheduled visits to the carpet and leather centres are part of the standard itinerary and are listed in advance. We were also sorry to read your comments about your tour guide. After receiving your feedback, we reviewed your concerns with both the guide and other members of the group to better understand the experience. The guide explained that comfort stops were made approximately every 1 to 1.5 hours throughout the journey, giving guests opportunities to purchase water and refreshments. While complimentary bottled water is not included as part of the tour, regular stops are scheduled for guests' comfort. With regard to your comments about the guide's English and use of social media, we understand that communication styles and personal impressions can vary. Our guide has been leading English-speaking groups for several years, and she advised that her priority throughout the tour was always the guests and the smooth running of the itinerary. Any social media content was created only during brief moments when guests were occupied or enjoying free time, without interrupting visits or delaying the group. We also received positive feedback from other guests on the same departure regarding her knowledge, organisation, and professionalism. Nevertheless, we appreciate that each traveller's experience is personal, and we're sorry that yours did not meet your expectations. We value all feedback, as it helps us continue improving our tours. Thank you again for travelling with us, and we wish you all the best in your future travels.

Great tour with a guide who was a pro with the culture and history of Türkiye.

We had a very enjoyable and informative tour. Our guide, Fatih Karci, was very knowledgeable about the sites that we toured and he was also very good at connecting historical events with current events. He was good at explaining the Turkish culture and food. I learned a lot about the ancient Hittite, Greek and Roman settlement of ancient Türkiye as well as the Ottoman period leading up to Atatürk. Fatih kept us on schedule, but was flexible when we needed or wanted more time. I really appreciated that when our optional Hot Air Balloon Excursion in Cappadocia was cancelled due to weather, Fatih reworked the last day’s schedule so that we had another chance to go up, which turned out to be a wonderful experience. And somehow, we still saw everything that day after the balloon ride. I also really liked the comfortable vans. The onboard Wi-Fi and USB charging ports were great amenities. Our driver, Murat was professional, helpful, and friendly..

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed review. We are truly delighted to hear that you had such an enjoyable and informative tour with us. It is wonderful to know that Fatih Karci’s knowledge, flexibility, and ability to connect Turkey’s rich history with present-day culture helped make your journey even more meaningful. We are especially pleased that he was able to reorganize the schedule after the Cappadocia balloon cancellation so you still had the opportunity to enjoy that unforgettable experience while continuing the tour smoothly. We are also very glad to hear your kind comments about our comfortable vehicles and the onboard amenities, as well as Murat’s professional, friendly, and helpful service throughout the trip. Thank you again for traveling with Fez Travel and for taking the time to share your experience. We hope to welcome you back for another memorable journey in Turkey in the future.

    Exceeded our expectations-wonderful!

We have always wanted to travel to Turkey, but our trip was enhanced significantly by our wonderful guide, Fatih Karci. He was such an asset to us all. His knowledge and passion about Turkish history and culture was marvellous. Nothing was too much trouble for Fatih or our wonderful, safe driver Hakim. We came away with a real fondness for the Turkish culture and people. The tour was well organized and the accommodation well positioned and comfortable. We recommend this tour.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are truly delighted to hear that your trip to Turkey was such a memorable experience. It means a great deal to us to know that Fatih Karci’s knowledge, passion, and care helped make your journey even more special. We are also very pleased that Hakim’s safe driving and support contributed to your comfort throughout the tour. At Fez Travel, we always aim to share the rich history, culture, and hospitality of Turkey in a meaningful and well-organized way, so it is wonderful to hear that you came away with such warm feelings for our country and people. Thank you again for your kind recommendation. We would be delighted to welcome you back for another journey in the future.

    This trip exceeded our expectations!

We spent 10 days on the magic carpet ride tour. And WOW.. Turkey is such a wonderful country with beautiful people and culture. Our trip far exceeded our expectations. thanks in large part to our amazing guide, Fatih Karcı! He is not only incredibly knowledgeable, but also a gifted storyteller who shared his passion and insights with us every single day. He guided us with kindness, and lots and lots of patience making sure everyone was happy and cared for , making the experience truly special and care free. Turkey will always have a place in our hearts, and so will Fatih … and our wonderful, always-smiling driver, Hakim. Highly recommend! Our only complaint would be that we missed out on the balloon ride in Cappadocia due to windy weather . But of course, we cannot blame the tour company for not being able to control the winds 😅. I’m sure our guide would have if he could though. Lucky Cappadocia is so stunning , even from the ground. I’d also like to mention the wonderful accomodation, especially the cave hotel in Cappadocia which we didn’t want to leave .

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful and heartfelt review. We are truly delighted to hear that your 10-day Magic Carpet Tour exceeded your expectations and left you with such special memories of Turkey. It means a great deal to us to know that Fatih Karcı helped make your journey so memorable with his knowledge, storytelling, kindness, and patience. We will be very happy to share your lovely words with him. We are also grateful for your kind mention of Hakim, whose warm smile and safe driving are always so appreciated. It is especially rewarding to hear that you enjoyed Turkey’s culture, people, and landscapes so deeply, and that the accommodation — particularly the cave hotel in Cappadocia — added so much to your experience. We also appreciate your understanding regarding the balloon ride. Cappadocia is truly magical from the sky, but safety must always come first when weather conditions are not suitable. We are glad that, even from the ground, its beauty still left such a strong impression on you. Thank you again for your recommendation and for traveling with Fez Travel. We would be honored to welcome you back to Turkey again in the future.

    A memorable experience

The experience was extremely rewarding and Very pleasant. My guide, İrem, is excellent. She is extremely knowledgeable and very well prepared, patient and she gives you space to explore on your own. A very nice young lady. The driver, Murat, is also a very responsible and supportive person. He is very patient. Both of them made my travel experience to Turkey a memorable one. Magic Carpet 10 Day Small Group Istanbul Troy Ephesus Cappadocia: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Istanbul.

How much does Magic Carpet 10 Day Small Group Istanbul Troy Ephesus Cappadocia cost?

    +

Prices start at $2250 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Istanbul usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Magic Carpet 10 Day Small Group Istanbul Troy Ephesus Cappadocia take?

    +

Plan for about 240 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Istanbul is not rushed.

Is Magic Carpet 10 Day Small Group Istanbul Troy Ephesus Cappadocia worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 90 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Istanbul, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Magic Carpet 10 Day Small Group Istanbul Troy Ephesus Cappadocia?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Magic Carpet 10 Day Small Group Istanbul Troy Ephesus Cappadocia suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 240-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Magic Carpet 10 Day Small Group Istanbul Troy Ephesus Cappadocia?

    +

Around 31 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Istanbul can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Istanbul and add a light layer if any part of the 240-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Magic Carpet 10 Day Small Group Istanbul Troy Ephesus Cappadocia start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Istanbul within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Istanbul?

    +

On Outty we rank every Istanbul experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Best of Istanbul 1, 2 or 3-Day Private Guided Istanbul Tour, Istanbul Luxury Bosphorus Yacht Cruise with Asian Side Stop, ISTANBUL BEST: Iconic Landmarks Full Day PRIVATE Guided City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Istanbul?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Istanbul?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
