Unique opportunity to see beautiful Madeira.

AMAZING! I cannot recommend this enough. This was an outstanding experience that I will remember forever. I've been so lucky in my life to travel and experience different ways of exploring but this was the most memorable. Our lovely guide Felipe was an expert guide. Knowledgeable, respectful and welcoming. We felt so safe and cared for in his expert handling of the iconic motorcycle and side car. He had excellent knowledge of flora and fauna (which impressed my 80 year old mum no end).

Response from the operator: Dear elliebZ940UU, Here's a warmer, more personal reply from your perspective while still naturally including relevant SEO terms: Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words. Reading reviews like this truly makes my day! It was a real pleasure meeting you both and sharing a little of what makes Madeira so special. I'm especially happy to hear your mum enjoyed learning about the island's flora and fauna—that's something I'm very passionate about, and it's always rewarding to share it with curious travellers. Thank you for trusting me to be your guide on your Madeira sidecar adventure. It means a lot to know it became such a memorable part of your travels. I hope our paths cross again someday for another ride around this beautiful island. Until then, take care and thank you once again! Regards, Filipe Freitas

    Madeira Sidecar Tours

My Daughter and I immensely enjoyed this experience. The equipment, motorcycle and sidecar were in excellent condition. Getting up into the mountains on Madeira was a thrill. The landscape and views are stunning. The best part of the tour was our drivers, Nuno and Gil. Really knowledgeable and pleasant to spend half a day with. The ride was really fun. Note if you thing you're too old to do this I'm 75 and had a great time.

Response from the operator: Dear kenm324, Thank you so much for your wonderful 5-star review! We’re thrilled to hear that you and your daughter immensely enjoyed your **Madeira Island sidecar tour** experience. Sidecar beats toboggan - by miles

You could queue for an hour and do the rather tame 10 minute toboggan run. You shouldn't. You should do this instead! It's great fun. Faster, the wind rushing round you, the engine thumping away beside you. Two hours of sightseeing and enjoyment with a knowledgeable guide. Nearly as good as driving the outfit yourself! Thoroughly recommended! Roger

Response from the operator: Dear Roger, Thank you so much for your fantastic 5-star review! We’re thrilled to hear that you chose a sidecar tour over the traditional toboggan run and found it to be such an exciting and memorable experience. Feeling the wind, hearing the engine, and exploring Madeira Island uniquely and dynamically is exactly what we aim to deliver. It’s wonderful to know you enjoyed the two-hour sightseeing journey and appreciated the knowledge shared by your guide. We always strive to provide a fun, informative, and truly immersive way to discover the beauty of Madeira Island. Your recommendation means a lot to us, and we hope to welcome you back for another adventure—maybe even behind the handlebars next time! Best Regards, Filipe Freitas

    Magical Madeira Experience!

My dad and I spent a half day with Gil & Nuno and it was absolutely amazing! Both of the guys were incredible, they showed us beautiful places, explained the history, but also let us kick back and enjoy the ride. The actual sidecar ride was so much fun but Gil & Nuno made the experience a special time for my dad and I! I would recommend this trip to anyone, and I hope to go back and see these amazing guides again. Thank you, Gil & Nuno! You’re the best!

Response from the operator: Dear Inspiration678499, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! It was a real pleasure to spend the day with you and your dad and to share some of Madeira’s beauty and history with you both. We’re very happy to know you enjoyed the sidecar ride and that the experience became such a special memory for you. Creating moments like these is exactly why we love what we do. Thank you for recommending us — it truly means a lot. We hope to welcome you both back one day for another adventure on the island! Best Regards, Filipe Freitas

Great tour with Madeira Sidecar Tours

We were picked up promptly outside the cruise ship exit by Tino. We were taken along the coast and up into the hills along the west side of Madeira. We really enjoyed the tour despite it being a bit cold and windy. We had a break for coffee and poncha then taken back in to Funchal and dropped off there at our request. The tour was great fun, Tino was very informative and above all we felt very safe. Would recommend.

Madeira West Coast: Half-Day Private Vintage Sidecar Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Funchal.

How much does Madeira West Coast: Half-Day Private Vintage Sidecar Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $199 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Funchal usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Madeira West Coast: Half-Day Private Vintage Sidecar Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Funchal is not rushed.

Is Madeira West Coast: Half-Day Private Vintage Sidecar Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 48 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Funchal, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Madeira West Coast: Half-Day Private Vintage Sidecar Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Madeira West Coast: Half-Day Private Vintage Sidecar Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Madeira West Coast: Half-Day Private Vintage Sidecar Tour?

    +

Around 17 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Funchal can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Funchal and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Madeira West Coast: Half-Day Private Vintage Sidecar Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Funchal within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Funchal?

    +

On Outty we rank every Funchal experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jeep Tour Amazing West to Natural Pools -Full-Day, Porto Moniz, Seixal, Fanal Forest, Cliff Skywalk in Open Roof 4X4, West Tour-Fanal Forest & Porto Moniz Natural Pools Small Groups. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Funchal?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Funchal?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
