About this experience
Madeira's southwest coast is the star of this all-inclusive cruise on 'Living Sea'. And after setting out from Funchal port, you'll head up the less-explored coast to Cais da Lapa for some swimming. The best part is that with a maximum of 52 guests on board, you'll have all the space and attentive service you need to enjoy a day at sea. Settle in on deck with a cold drink in hand, and feel the Atlantic breeze in your hair. You'll glide along the intensely green coastline – soon coming upon Cabo Girão, which towers out of the sea at a height of 580 meters. You'll get to cool off in the clear waters of Cais da Lapa, where boats from no other company stop, while your 'Living Sea' crew prepares a lunch of homemade dishes. The perfect pairing for your tasty lunch is wine from the Alentejo region. Make the most of the relaxing on-board experience with your group before sailing back down the coastline – hopefully accompanied by some curious dolphins or sea turtles.

A wonderfully relaxing day!
We were collected from our hotel right on time and driven down to the harbour, where we boarded the boat and were offered a lovely selection of drinks. There were other passengers joining us, but the boat was not at full capacity, meaning there was plenty of space to relax and enjoy the experience without feeling crowded. We sailed out to sea and were incredibly lucky to spot both dolphins and turtles, which was a real highlight of the day! We then stopped for a swim and enjoyed a delicious and plentiful lunch, including rice, potatoes, salad, chicken, pork and tuna. There was more than enough food for everyone, and everything was very enjoyable. On the journey back, we sailed along the coastline, taking in some truly beautiful scenery. The staff were fantastic throughout the day — attentive, helpful and friendly, with excellent English. They really went above and beyond to make the experience even more enjoyable. The toilets on board were also clean and well maintained, with a proper flush, which was an added bonus! Overall, it was a wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable day, with beautiful scenery, great food, fantastic wildlife and excellent service. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable day out. Thank you Vicente, Henrique,Eilipe and Jonge.

Funchal dolphin cruise with lunch and drinks
The hotel pick up is very important to me, one of the main reasons I chose it, the whole experience was great and the guys onboard were very professional but relaxed, nothing was too much trouble. Very early on we saw a large number of spotted dolphins swimming around us and diving out of the water ( great photos and videos). We cruised down the coast at a leisurely pace, very relaxing with a cold beer in hand or soft drinks, all inclusive of the cruise price. We stopped for an hour or so for lunch drinks and if you’re so inclined a swim , then a steady cruise back to the harbour, Excellent I would recommend, a great experience !!

What a lovely day
Lovely day! Picked up promptly from our hotel and taken to the harbour - wine, beer and soft drinks are flowing and soon you are a long way out into the Atlantic admiring the shoreline. Whilst dolphins are not guaranteed we saw loads! And sea turtles. Then you head to a quiet cove for a swim and lunch - which is amazing, filling and tasty. The journey back is along the shoreline where the guides point out various things including the cable cars that farmers use, different towns and so on. It’s amazing to see the rocks on the shore this close up! Would thoroughly recommend

Boat day trip
Great trip - saw Pilot whales, a turtle and a few flying fish! Lunch was homemade and really good. Gorgeous swim in a beautiful cove. Worth taking some travel sickness pills as the whales are about 1 hour from shore and then another 90 + mins back to lunch stop - it gets quite choppy even in good weather. Good selection of places to sit in sun and shade. We preferred the shade of the lower deck. Boat was really clean and staff friendly.
Response from the operator: Dear valued Guest, Thank you for your very positive feedback. We are glad you were satisfied with our services and hope to be your choice for your future holiday destinations. Kind regards, Customer Service team

Why this scores 58

Madeira South Coast Cruise on Living Sea boat with Lunch: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Funchal.
How much does Madeira South Coast Cruise on Living Sea boat with Lunch cost?
+
Prices start at $82 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Funchal usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Madeira South Coast Cruise on Living Sea boat with Lunch take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Funchal is not rushed.
Is Madeira South Coast Cruise on Living Sea boat with Lunch worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Funchal, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Madeira South Coast Cruise on Living Sea boat with Lunch?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Madeira South Coast Cruise on Living Sea boat with Lunch suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Madeira South Coast Cruise on Living Sea boat with Lunch?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Funchal can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Funchal and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Madeira South Coast Cruise on Living Sea boat with Lunch start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Funchal within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Funchal?
+
On Outty we rank every Funchal experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jeep Tour Amazing West to Natural Pools -Full-Day, Porto Moniz, Seixal, Fanal Forest, Cliff Skywalk in Open Roof 4X4, West Tour-Fanal Forest & Porto Moniz Natural Pools Small Groups. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Funchal?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Funchal?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
