The best experience to date!
An incredibly well-maintained boat that is absolutely perfect for this kind of experience. Captain Slater genuinely cares about giving his guests a once-in-a-lifetime experience. He shares his knowledge about the local wildlife and takes guests to areas where there is a chance to see whales, sharks, orcas, dolphins, and so much more. The company takes you right into the heart of the wildlife experience and makes sure you leave with professional photos to remember it by. I would give this experience a 10/10! I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Awesome, small group
Very easy going and small group (only 4 of us) we had plenty of room to set or stand and we saw so many humpbacks that we lost count. We saw pods of dolphins, rare dolphins, sea otters, sea lions, etc. totally worth it! Would definitely bring our kids and do it again!

Highly recommend Enocean tours; Slater is the best!!
I accidentally booked for July 31, although i intended to go on July 24, 2026. My fault. I ended up at the dock on July 24 with my friend, lo and behold there was no tour because it had actually been booked for July 31. I would have been most disappointed if unable to go whale watching that day. I called the tour operator, Slater, who was most kind in ensuring that we got on a tour that morning. He called around and found another company to take up that morning for a 3 hour whale watching tour. Additionally he even offered a refund of this money!! that is customer service. I would totally book with Enocean again. THANK YOU SLATER for a most memorable tour!!!

Amazing Day Whale Watching!
Slater Moore took us on an amazing whale watching trip near Moss Landing. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the area, the sea life and how to capture it all with a camera. We saw a pod of dolphins, sea lions and several humpback whales and two of them breached! We will definitely be going again next year. His boat is the perfect size for getting around easy, not being in a crowd and being up close and personal with sea life. Thank you for being a gracious host Slater!

Fantastic Whale Watching Trip
This was my first experience with whale watching and I gotta say that Captain Slater set the bar high. The boat itself was clean and well-maintained and Captain Slater was very knowledgeable about the area we were in and all of the wildlife we saw. This is certainly more expensive than the larger boats, but I would argue that you're more than getting your money's worth. You're getting a much more personal experience, it's not crowded, and you're much closer to the water. When we were cruising with a large pod of common dolphins they were literally within arm's reach as they raced along beside us. We were fortunate enough to see multiple humpbacks, plenty of sea lions, and tons of dolphins. All in all a terrific day and an experience that I would easily recommend doing.

Why this scores 52
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Luxury 3‑Hour Whale Watching Experience: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Monterey & Carmel.
How much does Luxury 3‑Hour Whale Watching Experience cost?
+
Prices start at $225 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Monterey & Carmel usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Luxury 3‑Hour Whale Watching Experience take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Monterey & Carmel is not rushed.
Is Luxury 3‑Hour Whale Watching Experience worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 16 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Monterey & Carmel, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Luxury 3‑Hour Whale Watching Experience?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Luxury 3‑Hour Whale Watching Experience suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Luxury 3‑Hour Whale Watching Experience?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Monterey & Carmel can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Monterey & Carmel and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Luxury 3‑Hour Whale Watching Experience start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Monterey & Carmel within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Monterey & Carmel?
+
Monterey Bay is one of the best whale watching stretches in the world, alongside kayak tours over the kelp forest, 17-Mile Drive and Big Sur coastal runs, and Carmel wine walks. Boat size and naturalist quality decide the whale trips, and we score them accordingly. On Outty we rank every Monterey & Carmel experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Monterey's 17 Mile Drive Guided Electric Bike Tour, 3 hr, Whale Watching Tour From Monterey, Elkhorn Slough Wildlife Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Monterey & Carmel?
+
April to November for whales and calm seas. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Monterey & Carmel?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
