What you get

    About this experience

You will coast from our downtown Carmel-By-The-Sea bike shop directly down to Carmel Beach to romp on the beach with your furry friend! Then ride along the Carmel coastline via Scenic Drive. You’ll sniff out landmarks like the Frank Lloyd Wright house, Tor House, Butterfly House, Carmel River State Beach, Clint Eastwood’s Mission Ranch, the Carmel Mission and Mission Trail Park, the original fairy-tale homes, and maybe Stillwater Cove Beach inside Pebble Beach Resort, with opportunities at every turn for sniffing. You will ride our premium e-bikes, and your dog will be in our custom handmade sidecars. These powerful, pedal-assisted electric bikes will allow us to cover a lot of ground. The e-bikes with sidecars also have throttles. We have two different-sized side car(s). Please tell us pet weight, breed, name, and which height rider might handle the side car. If you have more than one dog, specify if you think they’d prefer to be together in one sidecar or if you’d like two sidecars.

    1. Carmel Beach

This is a short roll down the hill from the shop as a reward for your dog trying out this new sidecar experience, and what a reward it is! This leash-free beach full of dogs is on every dog's bucket list. There's also a packed DG trail looking down above the pristine, white sands.

    2. Scenic Road Walkway

The most beautiful one-way road along the Carmel coastline. We'll pass the only coastal design by mid-century modern architect, Frank Lloyd Wright, the Custer-Meyer and and poet Robinson Jeffers' Tor House made of river-rock, the first original 100-year-old houses here.

      20 minutes here

    3. Carmel River State Beach

This is another opportunity to maximize the California beach experience on a beach sandwiched by dynamic ocean waves and a calm, clear, fresh lagoon the river created. A bird haven, and therefore, a dog's ultimate joy! We'll look across the lagoon at Clint Eastwood's Mission Ranch, the 175yo original dairy farm for the whole peninsula, and our next stop.

      10 minutes here

      Pass by without stopping

    6. Fairy Tale Cottages of Hugh Comstock

As we make our way back through Carmel-by-the-Sea on our way to Pebble Beach, we can get a most memorable photo opp of your dog in the sidecar in front of these life-size dollhouses. With no additional charges.

      Pass by without stopping

    7. Stillwater Cove Beach

The grand finale, Pebble Beach Lodge and Golf Links has one more beach opportunity after we park our e-bikes on the pier near the Beach Club and experience this aptly named pink sands and rocks for one last jaunt before returning to the shop.

    Not As Advertised

The scenery is beautiful and the bikes worked great, but our tour was not as advertised. The itinerary listed all these sights we were excited to see and the reviews raved about the tour guides. Our assigned guide, Noah, was not engaging at all, with any of the people or the dogs in our group. He shared no local history, didn't point out any sights, no photo ops and basically just had us wander around at our first stop, Carmel Beach, and then Pebble Beach while he was checked out. We didn't see Mission Ranch, the fairytale cottages, Carmel Mission, the Nature Preserve or any famous homes. It was very disappointing. The experience of biking with your dog is a lot of fun and we all agreed we'd love to visit Carmel again, but only if we got a guide who was enthusiastic to do his job and give an actual tour.

    Fun With Fido on E-Bikes

Great way to explore Carmel with your pooch! Our guide was knowledgeable and showed us lots of interesting architecture. We stopped at Carmel Beach for a potty break. We did this for our doggo's birthday and had so much fun! Note: The bike rental is behind the Mad Dog & Englishmen Coffee Shop. There isn't much signage with instructions on where to meet. Get there early to fill out the waivers.

A great way to spend some time with your loved dog in Carmel!

What a fun experience to have with our pups! We were a little, unsure of how our puppies would react to this. But they did just fine. It may have been the owner that assisted us in getting our dogs secured in the side car and directions of how to navigate the bikes and where to ride. The route was beautiful and our pups loved it. There was plenty of sites to see in places to take breaks.

Monterey Bay Famous Dog Friendly Electric Bike and Sidecar Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Monterey & Carmel.

How much does Monterey Bay Famous Dog Friendly Electric Bike and Sidecar Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $130 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Monterey & Carmel usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Monterey Bay Famous Dog Friendly Electric Bike and Sidecar Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Monterey & Carmel is not rushed.

Is Monterey Bay Famous Dog Friendly Electric Bike and Sidecar Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 30 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Monterey & Carmel, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Monterey Bay Famous Dog Friendly Electric Bike and Sidecar Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Monterey Bay Famous Dog Friendly Electric Bike and Sidecar Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Monterey Bay Famous Dog Friendly Electric Bike and Sidecar Tour?

    +

Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Monterey & Carmel can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Monterey & Carmel and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Monterey Bay Famous Dog Friendly Electric Bike and Sidecar Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Monterey & Carmel within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Monterey & Carmel?

    +

Monterey Bay is one of the best whale watching stretches in the world, alongside kayak tours over the kelp forest, 17-Mile Drive and Big Sur coastal runs, and Carmel wine walks. Boat size and naturalist quality decide the whale trips, and we score them accordingly. On Outty we rank every Monterey & Carmel experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Monterey's 17 Mile Drive Guided Electric Bike Tour, 3 hr, Whale Watching Tour From Monterey, Elkhorn Slough Wildlife Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Monterey & Carmel?

    +

April to November for whales and calm seas. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Monterey & Carmel?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
