Hop on and stay on!
Long waits between trams. Got off at first stop, but when we tried to get back on a couple of hours later the tram was full and had to wait for the next. Ended up getting local tram directly back to the centre of Lisbon. Once you’re on, stay on for the full circuit! The audio guide didn’t appear to correspond to anything we were passing at the time.

A good intro to the city
All the staff were helpful, and kept everything organised. The tram was very cute, the audio guide worked well, and pointed out interesting sites to come visit later. Overall, a very good whistle-stop tour of the area.

Red and Gold Tram Lines - Excellent Experience
Please note this review regards the red and gold tram routes and does not refer to the bus or boat trips as we did not do those. The tram excursions were brilliant. Each tram had good space available so everyone got a seat. Commentary was pre recorded but provided in multiple languages by headphones (which are provided). The windows were open allowing fresh air and the opportunity to take photos. Our tram drivers were friendly and helpful and it was very interesting to see them navigate the driving with the many cars, bikes, pedestrians etc around the city! The routes were very interesting and diverse and this allows you to see a wide range of Lisbon areas in the comfort and ease of the tram. As it does not stop to pick up or set down passengers on the route this is a much simpler and more relaxing option compared to the public trams. The one issue was it was very unclear which tram was operating which route and you have to be quick to ask the driver and then get on the tram if it is the correct route. We didn’t see anything on the front or side of the tram to confirm which route was being operated and this could easily be improved/resolved by the operator. A great experience and would highly recommend.

It’s enjoyable but not amazing.
Definitely touristy. But also not as crowded as the regular trams. If you want the experience of just riding and looking and a chance to just sit and observe this is a great choice. If you are looking for more high energy, this is not that. You ride the entire loop for around 1 hour. No getting on or off. However you are literally following the regular trams so you only go as fast as the tram in front of you. And while they stop at places to let passengers on and off. You just sit behind them and ride. We were looking for a chance to experience a tram without the crowds and this was the answer.

Waiting for a refund cause we missed the trip
I can’t review it because we weren’t able to go because of late flights. I’m waiting to hear about getting a refund. If we do, we will rebook, this time with 9 people instead of 5. Hope they do it.

Why this scores 52
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Lisbon Tram Tour (Hills and or Royal): questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.
How much does Lisbon Tram Tour (Hills and or Royal) cost?
+
Prices start at $8 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Lisbon Tram Tour (Hills and or Royal) take?
+
Plan for about 1.8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.
Is Lisbon Tram Tour (Hills and or Royal) worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.4/5 across 184 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Lisbon Tram Tour (Hills and or Royal)?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Lisbon Tram Tour (Hills and or Royal) suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Lisbon Tram Tour (Hills and or Royal)?
+
Around 64 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 1.8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Lisbon Tram Tour (Hills and or Royal) start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lisbon?
+
On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lisbon?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lisbon?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
