A great guide makes all the difference!
Ismael Gonçalves was the first person we met during our five-week stay in the Lisbon area. He was also the nicest, kindest person we met. He first greeted us at the Lisbon airport for a transfer to our hotel. Not only did we have a driver but we soon discovered we had an excellent guide. I never had such an informative and interesting airport transfer! We had a mini-history of Lisbon in the short time it took us to reach our hotel. We decided he was the one to give us a tour of Lisbon and we spent the following day seeing the city with him. It was easy going and very pleasurable. So when we decided to go to Porto, we knew Ismael was our man for it. He sent us an itinerary to consider for a three-day trip with stops along the coast, both going to and from. It was a terrific tour despite rains which never stopped. The weather was so bad that we had to change plans and our route for the return trip but as luck would have it, that change of plans took us to the Monastery of Alcobaça. It was breathtakingly beautiful and unlike the crush of snaking lines of tourists at the Monastery of Jeronimos or the Pena Palace, we had it entirely to ourselves. Weather may have necessitated a change of plans but he was resourceful and knew where to go that would not disappoint. In short, Ismael is well-versed in Portuguese history and equally well-versed in the mechanics of the tourist industry. He is informative, kind, and flexible to accommodate your wishes and needs. And did I mention that he dog-sat for us when we were at locations that did not allow dogs? I wish we could find an Ismael Goncalves in every country we visit!

FIVE STAR SERVICE
We spent 2 days with Edgar. On the first day, he took us to SINTRA and Pena Palace and he drove us directly to Porto and suggested a stop in Obidos. I appreciated his knowledge of Lisbon, professionalism and ability to assist us with tickets to Pena Palace once he realized we didn’t have them. He was personable and just a Great guy. I highly recommend his service. Will recommend him to all my friends in Boca Raton on their trip to Portugal!
