About this experience
Three incredible worlds in one unforgettable day. From prehistoric giants to underground wonders and medieval walls. Start by travelling 165 million years back in time and learn how the footprints were formed, which types of dinosaurs created them, and why this monument is one of the most important Jurassic sites in Europe. You will clearly see the movement, scale, and behaviour of these dinosaurs. Next, explore the spectacular Mira de Aire Caves, one of Portugal's Seven Natural Wonders. The guided visit takes you through a descent of about 75 metres, passing illuminated chambers, unique rock formations, and flowing water shaped over thousands of years. A lift brings you back to the surface at the end of the tour. To complete the journey, visit the magical town of Óbidos, one of Portugal's best preserved medieval villages. Your guide will provide historical context about the town, after which you will have free time to explore the streets and atmosphere of Óbidos at your own pace.

The Best Tour in Portugal – Francisco is Unmatched!
If you book only one tour while visiting Portugal, make sure it is with Francisco Almeida. This was, without a doubt, the best tour of our entire trip. Francisco is the absolute definition of a premier guide: cultured, exceptionally intelligent, deeply knowledgeable, and patient. On top of his incredible historical and regional context, he is a smooth, highly professional driver. We traveled in a brand-new, pristine VW van that was extremely clean and remarkably comfortable for a full day of exploring. The itinerary was a perfect blend of ancient history, natural wonder, and medieval charm: Natural Monument of the Dinosaur Footprints (Ourém): Walking along 175-million-year-old Jurassic sauropod tracks in the open-air limestone was surreal. Francisco’s guidance brought the scientific importance of these ancient giants to life. Mira de Aire Caves (Grutas de Mira de Aire): Descending into Portugal’s largest underground cave system was breathtaking. The modern walkways and ambient lighting illuminated massive stalactites and stalagmites shaped over thousands of years. Historic Óbidos: A picturesque walk through medieval streets framed by flower-draped, whitewashed houses. Sampling traditional ginjinha (cherry liqueur) served in a chocolate cup was an absolute delight! Castelo de Óbidos: Finishing up at this exceptionally well-preserved 12th-century fortress offered sweeping, panoramic views across the countryside. Francisco elevated every single moment with his warmth, expertise, and pacing. Thank you, Francisco, for an unforgettable day in Portugal. 10/10 recommendation!

Amazing experience!
We had an absolutely wonderful day! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable (Francisco) welcoming, and passionate about sharing the history and culture of the area. We learned so many new things while enjoying great conversation throughout the tour, which made the experience even more memorable. The sights were beautiful, and everything was well organized from start to finish. We never felt rushed and had plenty of time to take everything in. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area—it was one of the highlights of our trip!

Francisco provided a fun...
Francisco provided a fun and immersive experience and used a wide spread of knowledge of the country’s history. He has a massive collection of great facts and stories about Portugal and he brought a great fun and positive energetic presence. He is a wonderful guide and has a great sense of humour and personality. Francisco brought joy to me and my family and we are greatly appreciative of the experience. Portugal is a beautiful country and deserves much more attention, especially in the areas he brought us to. The villa, caves and the dinosaur park are a wonderful place to take a break from the busy streets of the city of Lisbon, especially in areas like the small towns and countryside that is located outside of the city. The restaurants he recommended were absolutely fantastic and the food was perfection. I would recommend this experience to anybody looking for a nice tour outside of the city and in the more isolated areas of the beautiful country of Portugal.

Why this scores 70
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Lisbon: Dinosaur Footprints, Caves and Obidos - Tickets Included: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.
How much does Lisbon: Dinosaur Footprints, Caves and Obidos - Tickets Included cost?
+
Prices start at $18 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Lisbon: Dinosaur Footprints, Caves and Obidos - Tickets Included take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.
Is Lisbon: Dinosaur Footprints, Caves and Obidos - Tickets Included worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Lisbon: Dinosaur Footprints, Caves and Obidos - Tickets Included?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Lisbon: Dinosaur Footprints, Caves and Obidos - Tickets Included suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Lisbon: Dinosaur Footprints, Caves and Obidos - Tickets Included?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Lisbon: Dinosaur Footprints, Caves and Obidos - Tickets Included start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lisbon?
+
On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lisbon?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lisbon?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
