Age is just a number, go for it!

This was my first trek happened to the Himalayas, I present to myself for my 73rd birthday. I was a little apprehensive about the possible difficulties with the climb up, but I went with the best team of guide and Porter that I could ever have hope for! Sagar Karki and his brother Bharat Karki are the best Trekking team , guide and porter that I could’ve got. They were so helpful in getting us up to the top at Kyangin Gumpa that I would definitely go on my next trek in the Himalayas with this great team! Now I need to spend the next 12 months getting in shape and ready for it! Thank you guys so much!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your inspiring review! We’re honored that you chose to celebrate your 73rd birthday with us and our team, Sagar and Bharat, are grateful for your kind words. It’s amazing to see your adventurous spirit, and we are thrilled to know that you enjoyed your time trekking with us. We look forward to welcoming you back for your next trek in the Himalayas. Happy training, and see you again soon!

Amazing experience of a beautiful region

Absolutely beautiful trek along the Langtang Valley with some challenging steps but overall very doable. The agency was amazing organizing everything and was always making sure both I and the other trekker had everything we needed, including looking out for our health. Both our guides, Sagar Karki and Bharat Karki, were excellent company with a thorough knowledge of the area and a fine sense of hospitality. I felt in very good hands and can’t recommend this experience enough. It’s worth every penny.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing your experience! The Langtang Valley is indeed a stunning region, and we’re thrilled to hear that you had such a positive trek. Sagar and Bharat are truly dedicated guides, and we’re glad they ensured you felt comfortable and well taken care of throughout your journey. Brilliant

From start to finish, I was looked after and everything felt easy. Our guide was extremely attentive and the company were so friendly and accommodating. We were prepared daily, and they were so flexible when it came to the hours we walked / the different needs of the group. The trek itself is beautiful. I will hopefully come back and I would choose to trek with these guys again :)

Road to enlightment (and sneak peak into Tibet)

From my own experience, I would say the Langtang Trek is an excellent choice for those seeking a blend of mountain adventure and Bhuddist culture. All along the path you will make Tamang, Sherpa and Tibetan friends, and stumble upon Gumba after Gumba, sacred shrines, surrounded by breathtaking peaks inhabitated by wild yaks and mules. From day one, Dhrub and Binod treated me like a friend. They made sure everything would go smoothly, that I had all the necessary gear and that I was satisfied. I went at the end of August, in full monsoon season, so it rained quite a bit, but I enjoyed myself every step of the way; the bus ride to syaprubesi, the lower valley trekking and upper valley mountain trekking were memorable, in great part because Dhrub is so skilled and knowledgeable as a guide. Highly recommended.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to write this review and for sharing your positive experience with us. We are glad to hear that you had a great time on the Langtang Trek and that you enjoyed the blend of mountain adventure and Buddhist culture. It is also great to hear that Dhrub and Binod were so helpful and made sure everything went smoothly for you. We are glad that you had a memorable experience and that Dhrub was such a skilled and knowledgeable guide. We hope to see you on a future trek with us. Thank you for your recommendation.

Trip of a lifetime

Due to a landslide causing disruption to one groups travels to Pokhara we ended up all in langtang as a larger group, with 3 individual guides, Sagar (SK), Toran and Dhrub, who ended up acting as guides to us all. I can honestly say trek was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Langtang was breathtaking, and despite monsoon season, we were really lucky with the views and weather. It was the perfect place to go during the monsoon because the mixture of nature, environment and culture created a really fulfilling trek. Sagar was the guide for myself and another female friend, and he was fantastic. He made us both feel so comfortable, and his gentle nature and in depth knowledge of the mountains made the whole group feel very safe, even during more stressful times! He always had an encouraging word for anyone who needed it, and looked after me so nicely when I had some issues with the altitude. Highly recommend playing cards with Sagar…if you like to laugh!! Toran was originally the guide for 2 of our friends in the group, and was amazing. He pushed us all, and could usually be found popping up ahead with something foraged nearby. His knowledge of the local communities, religions and nature made for great conversation. When Torans group left, I made the decision to go with them due to illness and he was really kind, and made me feel very safe. Dhrub was the guide for another guy, who was also trekking in langtang, and we ended up as one larger group in the tea houses and lunchtimes. He was also great, and we all looked forward to meeting them each afternoon. His high energy and positive attitude rubbed off on everyone, and he had the whole group laughing together by the first day. Thank you also to Bino, who organised the trek for us and helped us to explore the different options, no question was too many!! Thank you all so much for everything! We had a great time and made friends for life :)

Langtang Valley trek: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kathmandu.

How much does Langtang Valley trek cost?

+

Prices start at $900 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kathmandu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Langtang Valley trek take?

+

Plan for about 264 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kathmandu is not rushed.

Is Langtang Valley trek worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 80 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 23 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Kathmandu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Langtang Valley trek?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 144 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Langtang Valley trek suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 264-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Langtang Valley trek?

+

Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kathmandu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kathmandu and add a light layer if any part of the 264-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Langtang Valley trek start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kathmandu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kathmandu?

+

On Outty we rank every Kathmandu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour | UNESCO World Heritage sites, Manaslu Circuit Trek, Kathmandu Food and Drink Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kathmandu?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kathmandu?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
