Overrated
Guide not enthusiastic. The birds at the feeders were interesting. The rest was like walking in someone’s backyard. Not worth the cost.
Response from the operator: Hi Anne — thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m genuinely sorry to hear the experience felt overrated and that the guide’s attitude didn’t meet expectations. Even on a short tour, guests should feel welcomed, engaged, and well taken care of. To help me review this properly and follow up with the right team, could you please share a bit more detail? * **Guide’s name** (or a description if you don’t remember) * **Approximate start time** of the tour * **Where you booked** (Tripadvisor/website/hotel/agency) * And if possible, your **booking reference** or the **date/time shown on your confirmation** Once I have that, I can verify exactly who guided the tour and address it directly. We also take note of the “backyard” feeling—this tour is meant to be a small private reserve-style walk with feeders and local wildlife, but it should still feel valuable and professionally guided. Thank you again for the honest review, and I hope we can make this right.

Best thing we did
This tour was amazing! We saw lots of animals and had an amazing guide. The walk was easy. We did not have small kids but I would recommend for those with small children.
Response from the operator: Thank you very much, Patricia, for your kind words. We are delighted to know you enjoyed the tour and the time with our guide. It is wonderful that the experience was memorable and suitable for all ages. We hope to welcome you again in the future. Best regards, Elías Peña Tour Manager

Fun, easy hike with great tour guide!
We went on a tour with Elias and he was able to show us many different things, such as caymans, strawberry poison dart frogs, basilisks, chocuacos, and many different butterfly species at the butterfly pavilion. We also were able to see frog eggs near one of the small ponds which was really cool to see. Overall my experience here was very good and Elias was able to educate me on things I never knew about!
Response from the operator: Dear Ryan, Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear you had a fun and educational experience with Elías. It's always a joy to help our visitors discover the incredible biodiversity of Ecocentro Danaus — from frogs and caimans to butterflies and beyond. We truly appreciate your visit and hope to welcome you back for more nature discoveries in the future! Best regards, The Ecocentro Danaus Team

Great tour in La Fortuna area!
This tour was a lot of fun! Our guide Melvin was very knowledgeable and helped us take pictures using the telescope. We saw a number of animals and insects along the way, and also walked through the butterfly garden. The walk through the trails was pretty level and easy for our group which ranged in ages, from 10 years old to 76 years old. Remember to use bug spray before going on the trails (we didn’t have any issue, but we’re advised to do so just to be safe).
Response from the operator: Hi 376jilld, Thank you so much for your kind review! We're glad to hear that you had such a fun and rewarding experience on our La Fortuna Birds, Butterfly Garden, and Sloths Guided Tour. It’s fantastic that you and your group—from the young to the more experienced—enjoyed the easy walk and had the chance to spot so many animals and insects along the way. We appreciate your mention of our guide Melvin, who takes pride in helping guests with photo opportunities and sharing his knowledge. We also appreciate the helpful tip on using bug spray as an added precaution for future tours! We hope to welcome you back on another adventure soon! Best regards, Elías Peña Ecocentro Danaus

See the sloths
Excellent tour. Paz was our tour guide and he was excellent. Very patient and knowledgeable. He found many birds and animals that we would never have seen without a guide. We saw four sloths today including a baby. Pretty amazing. The birds were beautiful as well and there were many varieties as well as butterflies and frogs, including the tiny red dart poisonous frog. Don’t do this tour without a guide. You will miss too much.
Response from the operator: Dear Tom, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear that Paz made your experience so memorable with his patience, knowledge, and sharp eye for spotting wildlife. Four sloths—including a baby!—alongside vibrant birds, butterflies, and the iconic red dart frog sounds like a truly magical day. 🌿🐦💫 You’re absolutely right—having a guide like Paz makes all the difference in uncovering the hidden gems of the rainforest that are easy to miss on your own. We’re delighted you left feeling amazed and enriched by the tour. It was a pleasure to have you with us, and we hope to welcome you back someday for even more discoveries! Warm regards,

La Fortuna Butterfly Garden and wildlife Park GROUP Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for La Fortuna.
How much does La Fortuna Butterfly Garden and wildlife Park GROUP Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $30 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in La Fortuna usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does La Fortuna Butterfly Garden and wildlife Park GROUP Tour take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in La Fortuna is not rushed.
Is La Fortuna Butterfly Garden and wildlife Park GROUP Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 76 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 88 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in La Fortuna, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule La Fortuna Butterfly Garden and wildlife Park GROUP Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is La Fortuna Butterfly Garden and wildlife Park GROUP Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book La Fortuna Butterfly Garden and wildlife Park GROUP Tour?
+
Around 31 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in La Fortuna can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in La Fortuna and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does La Fortuna Butterfly Garden and wildlife Park GROUP Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central La Fortuna within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in La Fortuna?
+
On Outty we rank every La Fortuna experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Upper Balsa River White Water Rafting Class 3/4 in Costa Rica, North Fields Cafe: Craft Specialty Coffee and Chocolate Tour, Canyoning Adventure Rappelling Waterfalls in Arenal Volcano. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit La Fortuna?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in La Fortuna?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
