Tender care in Kyoto
We had a wonderful day and saw so much! Private car perfect way to see Kyoto. Our guild was 10+ and really took care of us . He was from Egypt but knew they area well. Was very easy to understand and took care of me with my walker so I never missed a thing. We definitely recommend this tour to anyone that wants to be pampered and see what they want to see. Can customize to your wishes. Loved it!!

BEST Touring experience
I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about Aly! He was kind, incredibly knowledgeable, funny, and genuinely made our entire experience so special. From the very beginning, he took such great care of us. He was an incredibly safe driver, always made sure we got exactly where we needed to be, and picked us up right at the curb whenever possible. My mom and aunt were both using wheelchairs, and Aly went above and beyond to make sure they were comfortable, included, and taken care of every step of the way. When some of the hiking became too much, he never made us feel rushed or like we were an inconvenience. He made sure we could stop, rest, take breaks, and enjoy the experience at a pace that worked for everyone. Beyond being an amazing tour guide, Aly is just a genuinely wonderful human being. You can tell he truly loves what he does, and that comes through in the way he treats the people he is guiding. I honestly cannot thank him enough for the kindness, patience, laughter, and care he showed our family. This was hands down one of the BEST touring experiences we have ever had. If you have the opportunity to tour with Aly, DO IT! You will be in wonderful hands. Thank you, Aly, for making this experience one we will never forget! ❤️

The providor never picked...
The providor never picked us up and we never got to see Kyoto. I had tried to clarify the pickup point by email. When I got no response, I called Viator and a very nice lady contacted the providor on our behalf She was assured that there would be no problem and passed that info back to us. I had asked her to be sure to mention our ship Westerdam. There is no excuse for the failure under the circumstances. Needless to say, they need to refund our pAyment
Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We sincerely regret the disappointment and inconvenience caused by this experience and appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation. According to the booking details, this reservation originally included only driver-guide service and did not include a vehicle. However, in order to better support your trip and help ensure the service could proceed smoothly, we arranged both a vehicle and a driver for you at no additional arrangement concerns on the service day. Our driver arrived on time at the designated pickup location, Tempozan Port, based on the booking information provided. Before and upon arrival, both our operations team and the driver made multiple attempts to contact you, but unfortunately we were unable to reach you and could not locate you at the agreed meeting point. As a result, despite our efforts and preparations, the tour could not proceed as scheduled. We understand your frustration and recognize how disappointing it must have been to miss the experience. We always strive to provide reliable service and clear communication for every guest, and we continue reviewing our procedures to further improve coordination for future bookings. Thank you again for your feedback. Best regards, Kansai Holiday

A Driver Not a Guide
The driver, Kaibo, did a good job at picking us up and dropping us off at various locations. However, he was not a guide at all. He had very little knowledge of the sights we visited (Kiyomizu dera, Fushimi inari, etc.) and offer no interesting anecdotes or insider tips on making the best use of our time for our first visit to Kyoto. He also did not seem knowledgeable about restaurants in the area. We requested a typical Kyoto lunch spot and ended up in a Chinese grill your own chicken establishment.
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are pleased to know that the transportation arrangements met your expectations, and that Kaibo was able to provide smooth pickups and drop-offs throughout the day. However, we are truly sorry to hear that the guiding experience did not meet the standard you expected for your first visit to Kyoto. We sincerely apologize that the information and recommendations provided were not as helpful or insightful as they should have been, especially regarding the sightseeing guidance and lunch arrangements. We understand how important local knowledge and thoughtful recommendations are in creating a memorable experience, and we regret that we fell short in this area. Please know that your feedback is extremely valuable to us. We will carefully review this matter with our team and use your comments to improve the quality of our service. Thank you again for your honesty and understanding, and we hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a much better experience in the future.

Why this scores 52
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Kyoto Private Hightlights Customizable Tour&English Driver Guide: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kyoto.
How much does Kyoto Private Hightlights Customizable Tour&English Driver Guide cost?
+
Prices start at $85000 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kyoto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Kyoto Private Hightlights Customizable Tour&English Driver Guide take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kyoto is not rushed.
Is Kyoto Private Hightlights Customizable Tour&English Driver Guide worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kyoto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Kyoto Private Hightlights Customizable Tour&English Driver Guide?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Kyoto Private Hightlights Customizable Tour&English Driver Guide suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Kyoto Private Hightlights Customizable Tour&English Driver Guide?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kyoto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kyoto and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Kyoto Private Hightlights Customizable Tour&English Driver Guide start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kyoto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kyoto?
+
On Outty we rank every Kyoto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kyoto : Gion Make Your Own Chopsticks with Engraving Option, Award-Winning Authentic Ramen Making Experience in Kyoto, Hidden Kyoto E-Biking tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kyoto?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kyoto?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
