The capital of Portuguese Gothic architecture, Santarem was founded by the Romans in the first century B.C., reaching its height of prosperity during the domain of the Moors. It was conquered by the first king of Portugal, Afonso I in 1147 and became the regional capital of the province of Ribatejo. Castelo de Almourol
The Castle of Almourol is one of the best examples of 12th-century military Templar architecture. It is strategically located on an island in the center of the Tagus River. This fortress was considered invincible and was part of a line of defense composed of 5 castles that protected Coimbra, the capital of Portugal, at the time. We will visit the Castle of Almorol, by crossing the river on a very pleasant boat ride. From the walls of the castle, we will enjoy the wonderful view of the winding course of the river around the valleys of “Ribatejo.”

Tomar
The Order of the Knights Templar, or Templars, entered in Portugal in the 12th century, even before the founding of the kingdom. This Order gained fame in Portugal when the Knight Gualdim Pais was instructed by the founder of the Templars in Jerusalem, Hugo of Payens to establish the first Templar headquarters in Europe. Thus, the city of Tomar was born as a replica of the Holy City of Jerusalem and on its dominant hill, the Convent of Christ is built overlooking the city. Walking tour through the streets of Tomar.

Five star private tour of the Templar Castle Convent of Christ
Excellent private tour of the Templar Castle-Convent of Christ with Vasco as our guide. He was incredibly knowledgable and gave us a fantastic day in Tomar. We learned a lot of history, art, culture and much more. We are a well traveled group over age 60 from the US. We have high standards, and we were very happy with him as our tour guide. He spoke excellent English, answered all our questions, and was very professional. Time and money well invested. If you’re looking for a quality tour guide, no need to look any further than Vasco. You won’t be disappointed.
Response from the operator: Patricia, it was our pleasure to showing you some of the best that Portugal has to offer. Thank you again.

If you’re looking for a great private tour company then I cannot recommend Jorge and his company enough. We were fortunate to have Jorge take us on 2 private day tours from Lisbon and the experience was outstanding. He is very knowledgeable and friendly and we cannot speak more highly of him. His cars were comfortable and clean. He was always on time getting us and we felt very safe the entire time we were with him. 5 star service all the way. Will use him again next time we come to Portugal!

The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Knights Templar private day tour from Lisbon: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.
How much does Knights Templar private day tour from Lisbon cost?
+
Prices start at $77 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Knights Templar private day tour from Lisbon take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.
Is Knights Templar private day tour from Lisbon worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Knights Templar private day tour from Lisbon?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Knights Templar private day tour from Lisbon suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 3. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 6-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Knights Templar private day tour from Lisbon?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Knights Templar private day tour from Lisbon start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lisbon?
+
On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lisbon?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lisbon?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
