A great day out in Kathmandu and surrounds
We arranged the trip very last minute with Shepherd Holidays coming to our rescue . With detailed information over a WhatsApp call and everything arranged to satisfaction from Everest mountain flight to Chandragiri to Kirtipur the day was awesome. Guide Pradeep was so knowledgeable and answered all my curiosity questions very well. Very pleasant personality and quite easy accomodating of an elderly person with us.

Buddhist spiritual experience
Fascinating excursion in the territories of Tibetan Buddhist spirituality, experienced with all 5 senses in the cave of Asura, perfect place to meditate where the coordinates of time and place are suspended. The Umesh guide confirms a solid certainty, from an organizational, informative and human point of view. The driver is also noteworthy, moving smoothly through the chaotic traffic of Kathmandu with an incredible eye.
Response from the operator: Namaste from Nepal, Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful review and for describing your Trip in such a vivid and heartfelt way. Your warm appreciation for Umesh means a lot to us and your words will surely make him very happy. Thank you very much for the opportunity, and we sincerely wish to welcome you again in the near future for other Himalayan adventures and activities. Thank you again.

History and culture
We were picked up on time at our hotel by Bijay the driver and Ananta the guide. Both were friendly, informative and helpful. We visited a beautiful statue/temple and a Hindu blessing place then off to Kirtipur which was beautiful ,nteresting and had some beautiful vuews of Kathmandu and the Himalayas followed by a traditional Nawari meal at a nice restaurant. We were then dropped off at our hotel
Response from the operator: Namaste and warm greetings from Nepal! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. We're glad to hear you enjoyed the Kirtipur & Swayambhu tour with Ananta and Bijay. It's wonderful to know the views, cultural insights, and traditional Newari meal made your day memorable. We truly appreciate your kind words and would be honored to welcome you again—perhaps for a longer adventure like the Base Camp or a cultural journey across Nepal. Thank you again.🙏

Interesting Culture Experience
Myself and my son were picked up at our hotel on time by our driver Bijay and guide Ananta, both were friendly, helpful, informative, excellent at their jobs and we enjoyed their company for the day. We were took to a few different temples and learned the history and culture there. Some of the statues are really beautiful. We also visited Kirtipur and learned about Newari culture then had a typical Newari dish at a nice restaurant then dropped off at the hotel. Its an ideal daytrip for culture lovers

Why this scores 65
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Kirtipur & Swayambhu Trip from Kathmandu: Local Eats and Drinks: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kathmandu.
How much does Kirtipur & Swayambhu Trip from Kathmandu: Local Eats and Drinks cost?
+
Prices start at $50 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kathmandu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Kirtipur & Swayambhu Trip from Kathmandu: Local Eats and Drinks take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kathmandu is not rushed.
Is Kirtipur & Swayambhu Trip from Kathmandu: Local Eats and Drinks worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kathmandu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Kirtipur & Swayambhu Trip from Kathmandu: Local Eats and Drinks?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Kirtipur & Swayambhu Trip from Kathmandu: Local Eats and Drinks suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 4-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Kirtipur & Swayambhu Trip from Kathmandu: Local Eats and Drinks?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kathmandu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kathmandu and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Kirtipur & Swayambhu Trip from Kathmandu: Local Eats and Drinks start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kathmandu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kathmandu?
+
On Outty we rank every Kathmandu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour | UNESCO World Heritage sites, Classic Everest Base Camp Trek, Manaslu Circuit Trek. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kathmandu?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kathmandu?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
