What you'll see and do
Tbilisi is a city that lives between the Caucasus mountains and ancient grapevines, where the only thing more dangerous than the local wine, is a Georgian grandmother who thinks you look hungry. It’s a place where a food constitution would be written in flour, cheese, and walnuts. But while everyone claims to have the best recipe, it pays to know the culinary ropes. Our feasting tour of 12+ tastings invites guests on a culinary experience around the backstreets of Tbilisi led by our team of professional foodie guides. Before we get started, our tour reflects the local cuisine and the limitations of street food vendors means we unfortunately cannot cater for every dietary restriction. Here's an honest appraisal for the tour so no-one is disappointed: ✖️Vegetarians and gluten-free guests have 3-4 less tastings due to limited alternatives. ✖️ Unsuitable for severe allergies, halal and celiac diets due to risk of traces and cross-contamination. Start at a subterranean bakery, to see shoti long bread slapped against the walls of a clay Tone oven and tear into a hot, bean-filled lobiani. These basements have fed neighbours through wars and revolutions. At a local eatery that has stood its ground for over a decade, we dive into colourful mosaic of pkhali walnut spreads of purple beetroot, and forest-green spinach. We’d rather not spoil all the surprises, but a sneak peek of our 12+ tastings includes some firm favourites. Try ostri, a beef stew that’s a slow-simmered, fiery testament to the country’s Dukani tavern history.

The Dezerter Bazaar
Established in the 1920s, the Dezerter Bazaar earned its name from soldiers fleeing the Red Army to trade boots for bread. Today, it’s a market cathedral of local produce, where we’ll sample an artisanal cheese assortment featuring four distinct styles, washed down with a glass of velvet Khvanchkara wine, a favourite of princes and world leaders alike. Burgundy sheets of plum fruit leather also hang alongside candle-shaped churchkhela, a nutty grape candy that served as a high-protein staple for Georgian warriors centuries ago.

Tbilisi
Experience the strange, briny delight of jonjoli pickled flowers. Then at the former ticket office of the Apollo Theatre, history is served alongside chicken walnut kharcho stew, eggplant rolls and the stretchy elarji, cheese-laden cornmeal porridge.
45 minutes here
Later, we’ll master the art of a national dish, khinkali soup dumplings. Learn to slurp the herb-spiked urban meat version, to earthy mushroom, and molten Sulguni cheese varieties. We finish at Fabrika, a massive Soviet-era sewing factory transformed into a graffiti-clad courtyard, where the youth of Tbilisi plan the future over syrupy Georgian baklava. There’s more to this Tbilisi food tour. It’s a discovery and understanding of a city that other tourists just don’t experience. Whilst it's possible to attempt such a culinary marathon alone, you’d be hard-pushed to find these spots without our tastemaker guides.

A Must Do Experience
Nikolaus was our guide and he was fantastic. The food, locations, wine and conversation was all brilliant. Highly recommend this tour as a "must do" in Tblisi. We learned so much about the history, culture and food of Georgia.

Excellent tour
Outstanding with guide Tako. We loved everything - well-curated itinerary, small, local shops/restaurants, knowledgeable guide with deep culinary knowledge who genuinely loves her culture and cuisine. Highly recommend- wear good walking shoes and start out very hungry!

Amazing food tour!
Wonderful host! Knew so much about the culture, food, people etc. any question I had she was able to answer. Eating at hidden places was a highlight and I would definitely recommend going on this tour to learn about them and try wonderful food.

Local food tasting
We met Tako at the pre arranged spot she was very welcoming and informative about Georgian food and culture. Our first metro journey and a tour around the markets where locals buy. Very different for us. Each stop off point was well chosen and very different from the next. If I had any criticism at all it would be the fact that there was so much food! The four hours passed very quickly and enjoyably. Would definitely recommend!

Khinkali Kitchens Tbilisi Food Tour with 12+ Tastings: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tbilisi.
How much does Khinkali Kitchens Tbilisi Food Tour with 12+ Tastings cost?
+
Prices start at $59 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tbilisi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Khinkali Kitchens Tbilisi Food Tour with 12+ Tastings take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tbilisi is not rushed.
Is Khinkali Kitchens Tbilisi Food Tour with 12+ Tastings worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tbilisi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Khinkali Kitchens Tbilisi Food Tour with 12+ Tastings?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Khinkali Kitchens Tbilisi Food Tour with 12+ Tastings suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Khinkali Kitchens Tbilisi Food Tour with 12+ Tastings?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tbilisi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tbilisi and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Khinkali Kitchens Tbilisi Food Tour with 12+ Tastings start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tbilisi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Tbilisi?
+
On Outty we rank every Tbilisi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kakheti Wine Region Tour + 10 Premium Wine Tastings & Sunset, Tbilisi:Mtskheta,Jvari,Bazaar,Chronicles of Georgia & Wine Cellar, Day Trip to Kazbegi and Gudauri. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tbilisi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tbilisi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
