    2. The first place where you will stop is a shop to buy snacks. Since the area doesn't have good restaurants and we do not have a lunch stop, you should get some snacks not to feel too hungry and uncomfortable. And next, we go to a salty lake, where we have an outstanding possibility to take some nice pictures. The lake is on the way to David Gareji Lavra, and the views are astonishing for taking memorable photos. In total, for the shop and the lake, we will have 30 minutes.

    3. Udabno

After the lake, we continue driving through Udabno Village, translated as a desert. The area where we will be traveling is the only semidesert Georgia has, and it's more than amazing to see how diverse Georgian nature is.

We will walk through the Rainbow Mountains, take many mesmerizing pictures, and prepare for the David Gareji Lavra historical tour. David Gareji Monastery Complex is one of the most spiritual places in the country. You will hear the stories of the monastery, do a bit of hiking and see a Georgian soldier at the border of Georgia and Azerbaijan. It’s believed that St. David chose this isolated location because he wanted his Disciples to lead a life of holiness independent from the rest of society.

Great trip that combines nature and history

Great trip to the Dawit Gareja monastery and the rainbow hills. It was nice to have a knowledgeable guide like Gabriel, who was open to answer questions about Georgia in general, not only the itinerary. It was the second trip we booked with Gamarjoba Georgia Tours and we can recommend it, the busses are clean and comfortable, the drivers weren't crazy and the location was also really beautiful. We also appreciated that the tour wasn't as long as others like the one to Kazbegi

Response from the operator: Coming back for a second tour is a compliment we really appreciate! ❤️ We’re glad Gabriel made the journey interesting beyond the itinerary and that you enjoyed the beautiful, quieter side of Georgia around David Gareja and the Rainbow Mountains. Thank you for trusting us again and for the recommendation! ⛰️🇬🇪😊

Day Trip to Rainbow Mountains and David Gareja: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tbilisi.

How much does Day Trip to Rainbow Mountains and David Gareja cost?

    +

Prices start at $29 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tbilisi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Day Trip to Rainbow Mountains and David Gareja take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tbilisi is not rushed.

Is Day Trip to Rainbow Mountains and David Gareja worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 93 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 546 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Tbilisi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.

Can I cancel or reschedule Day Trip to Rainbow Mountains and David Gareja?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Day Trip to Rainbow Mountains and David Gareja suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Day Trip to Rainbow Mountains and David Gareja?

    +

Around 191 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tbilisi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tbilisi and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Day Trip to Rainbow Mountains and David Gareja start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tbilisi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Tbilisi?

    +

On Outty we rank every Tbilisi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tbilisi:Evening Walking & Talking Tour with Wine & Boat Ride, Kakheti Wine Region Tour + 10 Premium Wine Tastings & Sunset, Tbilisi:Mtskheta,Jvari,Bazaar, wine tasting,Chronicles of Georgia. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Tbilisi?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Tbilisi?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
