    About this experience

A diverse range well knows Kartli region of cultural sites, including several historical, cultural, and landscapes. Since the first half of the III millennium BC, the area dates from classical to medieval, including and altered several times. The region was the home of gods and their earthly embodiment – priests, chiefs, and kings. Every layer of the ground keeps a memory of epochs. The region was standing over the crossroads of cultures. The significance of this arterial road was connecting east and west. It’ rocky road still preserves a clear trace of wheeled transport moving here over centuries. The region was, from time to time, ruled by Mithraism or Zoroastrianism. Sovereign priests performed pagan rituals here. On this altar, they offered sacrifice, glorified female divinity, lighted holly fire. To be continued during the tour.

Amazing tour to Uplistsikhe with Liza

Liza was an amazing guide, so knowledgeable and cheerful. It is obvious that she loves her job. The bus was very comfortable and we saw so much in one day. Uplistsikhe cave town was my personal highlight. I will happily take more tours with Gamarjoba Georgia for the rest of my trip. Madloba!

Response from the operator: Madloba! ❤️ It’s wonderful when a guide’s love for what they do really shines through, and that’s definitely Liza! 😊 We’re glad Uplistsikhe was a highlight and that you enjoyed such a full day with us. Knowing you’d choose us again for the rest of your trip is the biggest compliment! 🇬🇪

Great day trip, packed with diverse activities.

Highly enjoyable day trip, with interesting mix of historical and cultural highlights. Svetitskhoveli Cathedral is remarkable. Our guide was Tako — she was lively, well versed, and really put effort into the tour. The optional Georgian group lunch in Gori is well worth the price — some of the best food I had on my entire trip and I recommend joining if you can.

Response from the operator: Sounds like Tako, Svetitskhoveli and that Georgian lunch made quite the team! 😄❤️ We’re delighted you enjoyed the mix of history and culture, and especially happy the lunch became one of your favorite meals of the whole trip. We’ll make sure Tako hears your kind words. Thank you for the recommendation! 🇬🇪😊

    10/10 would recommend

The description of the tour is spot on (fees and all). Oko was our guide and he was such a gentle and caring person. He really made everything comfortable. I'm glad I added this to my trip as I don't feel like I would have enjoyed as much going by myself. It also wasn't overwhelming with too many people in the group. All in all, if you're still hesitating, BOOK IT.

Response from the operator: “Still hesitating? BOOK IT.” — we couldn’t ask for a better ending! 😄❤️ We’re especially happy Oko’s gentle and caring nature made you feel comfortable throughout the day. Sometimes having the right guide and a friendly-sized group completely changes how you experience a place. Thank you for choosing to explore with us! 🇬🇪😊

Day Trip to Mtskheta Gori and Uplistsikhe: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tbilisi.

How much does Day Trip to Mtskheta Gori and Uplistsikhe cost?

    +

Prices start at $29 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tbilisi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Day Trip to Mtskheta Gori and Uplistsikhe take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tbilisi is not rushed.

Is Day Trip to Mtskheta Gori and Uplistsikhe worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 93 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 2,103 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Tbilisi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.

Can I cancel or reschedule Day Trip to Mtskheta Gori and Uplistsikhe?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Day Trip to Mtskheta Gori and Uplistsikhe suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Day Trip to Mtskheta Gori and Uplistsikhe?

    +

Around 736 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tbilisi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tbilisi and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Day Trip to Mtskheta Gori and Uplistsikhe start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tbilisi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Tbilisi?

    +

On Outty we rank every Tbilisi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tbilisi:Evening Walking & Talking Tour with Wine & Boat Ride, Tbilisi:Mtskheta,Jvari,Bazaar, wine tasting,Chronicles of Georgia, Kakheti Wine Region Tour + 10 Premium Wine Tastings & Sunset. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Tbilisi?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Tbilisi?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
